Wondering what people are thinking for the best vintage beer bars out there. The criteria being not only a deep cellar, but also with some thought put into it. Here's my top 5

    1. Kulminator
    2. Ebenezer's
    3. Toronado
    4. Monk's Cafe
    5. Falling Rock (though the list has shrunk recently)

Great list. My addition is not really a bar, but a very high end restaurant that also has a bar. It's pricy, but the list is world class. Eleven Madison Park in NYC. Check out the menu online.

That is a sweet list. The lambic section alone is pretty impressive. I pity the poor guy who shells out $29 for an '03 Black Chocolate Stout though. IMO, that stuff falls off a cliff after about 4-5 years. But I digress, I don't mean to turn this into a BCS thread...

Bull and Bush in Denver has a pretty decent vintage menu.

The Cantillon prices are actually somewhat reasonable. Cascade Kriek is appallingly expensive, however.

Ebenezer's gets my vote. It's amazing he can have a place like that in the middle of freakin nowhere.

I'll throw in a vote for Twisted Spoke in Chicago. Most of their items are overpriced, but if you've got some cash to burn it's a fun place.

The menu hasn't been updated in over a year, but you can get an idea of the items they have available.

That list hasn't been updated in ages... but Le Bier Circus is quite nice nonetheless.

Went to The Porter in little five points(ATL) a long while ago and they had a pretty decent list

I've heard that as well, and I talked to people ahead of my visit, but when I got there, no one would give me the list. Do they still have the vintage cellar or did they do some purging?

I've not heard that they did, but it's entirely possible. They always kept it close to the vest, but if you asked and didn't get it... did they specifically say "we don't have that any more?"

Yeah, that's exactly what they told me, but you never know with bars these days.

FYI, they're showing the vintage beers on their beer menu on their web page, so maybe they just eliminated the "vintage" beer menu and have one beer menu now.

How this wasn't mentioned in the OP I just cannot understand. In my opinion far, far better than Kulminator.

I agree with the Akkurat comments, though I havent been to Ebenezers.

I will also add Brasserie 420 in Rome, not the selection that Akkurat or Kulminator have, but quite a nice selection none the less, and it is simply a great bar!

    cheers
