I'm a big fan of Biere De Garde and I'm heading to France and Belgium in a couple of months. I'm looking for some advice as to where to have a good BDG in Paris or on the North Coast between Normandy and Dunkirk. My google searches have come up blank. Thanks
Lille is a very nice city to visit with the old medieval city centre. Some very good bars (La Capsule, Hops Café) and bottle shops (L'abbaye des Saveurs, Saveur Drink).
A little less mainstream would be great. I think we are going to try to get to Brasserie Au Baron as it seems to be what we are looking for. Unfortunately Lille is going to be out of the quesstion as we are going to be in the area at the same time as the flea market that sees 2 million people in the town over one weekend...
Bumping this..wrote this in another thread as well, but I'll in the Lille area of France for a day during a Belgium trip and am looking to visit a French brewery in this area to try some real Biere de Garde. I see there are a couple nice beer bars in Lille as well - does anyone know if these bars have local French beers, particularly BdG? And finally...what would be a few beers in this area I should be looking out for? Thank you!
In the north-west of France (Calais, Dunkerque) you will find many Bières des Gardes. Even in smaller supermarkets. May favourite brewery in that area is http://www.brasseriethiriez.com which has many nice examples of that style. I found many of their beers in "normal" smaller supermarkets. In Dunkerque, http://www.e-leclerc.com/dunkerque/ may be one choice, but when driving around in the countryside, just stop at smaller supermarkets and see what they have! -->
