VAIL, CO – For thirteen years, the Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines Festival has attracted beer and snow enthusiasts alike to Vail with its unconventional and big beer formats, marquee brewmasters list and world-class resort setting. Next year will be no different. Today, festival coordinators announced the list of participating breweries for their Jan 9-11, 2014 event at the Vail Cascade Resort. In 2013, there were 85 breweries and importers present to showcase their wares at the Commercial Tasting, up 25 from the previous year. For the 14th anniversary event, there will be 111 breweries present in Vail representing 140 breweries and serving more than 375 beers to taste at the Commercial Tasting signature event and throughout the weekend.

To participate in the Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines festival, beers must be either “big” (over 7% alcohol by volume), of a Belgian style, or experimental in nature. “These beers are not on the radar of the mainstream beer drinker ,” said Laura Lodge, festival organizer. “We are pleased to offer our attendees the opportunity to try these extreme, rare, unusual, and limited release products. Our goal is to increase the market for these beers by educating the consumer about the variety of specialty products created by these talented brewers.”

Several of the breweries listed will also be featured throughout the weekend in other formats, such as the Welcome Reception, educational seminars, Brewmasters’ Dinners, a Cigar Pairing Experience, the Yoga of Brewing, and more. For tickets and a complete list of events, visit the festival website at http://www.BigBeersFestival.com.

The Vail Cascade Resort will also be creating a lounge for festival participants and attendees, offering a diverse selection of products donated by the breweries as a fundraiser for the Vail Valley Charitable Fund. The Cascade Lounge will also provide food service to supplement the Fireside Bar throughout the weekend.
