I know, no rare beers and all that, but Big Time is releasing Whiny today, and they've got bombers for sale this year. I thought the 2012 version was really nice, gonna stop by today after work for a pint.

Last year my pour came in a small 6oz snifter. And I ate a jalapeno. So I kinda screwed up the beer.

Looking forward to trying this year's version, which is slightly different from last year's. It'd be nice to get a larger pour, too.

    And a bottle...

What kind of price do you think the bottles will be? Sounds like it will be tasty.

Old Sol and Old Wooly were ~$10 (?) a bottle, so I'm guessing something similar.

    edit: 30 cases available.

You're probably right, I can't remember how much I paid for them.

Would someone mind posting when the last bomber is gone? I might try to get over there tonight but don't want to waste a trip... (I'll also try to remember to call Big Time but who am I kidding, I'm always checking BA thread updates)

I don't see there being a run on bottles today. It's Big Time, stuff lasts a while. I'm going over to have dinner at 5pm, so I'll let you know.

That's an immediate pass. I'll take my $15 and get a growler of the brother. I don't even have to taste whiny and I know the brother is better.

I've had this on my Wants list for a while. Does this usually hang out for a bit, or is it gone pretty quick?

This is the first year they've bottled it, so no clue. Last year was keg only and hung out for a good while.

Big Time bottles typically do hang around a bit, though. I mean, they're brewery only and their average customers are college students and professors who come in for something to eat and a beer.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to follow this, and maybe land a bottle or two.

Cereal Killer was on tap still... :)

Stopped in around 5pm for dinner with the kiddo. Place was absolutely packed, didn't seem to be a concern about bottles selling out any time soon. Also, I noticed that the Whiny bottles have WABL bottle caps on them. Hadn't seen those before.

They used those caps for Old Wooly this year as well.

My Old Wooly 2012 doesn't have one of 'em. Weird.

Yeah, but then I just asked another bartender for shits and giggles, and she said they "have a bunch of cases downstairs." Who knows!

My bad, I think I was thinking of Switchback or 666 lol.

Just stopped by and bought some bottles, there is still some left. Didn't ask how much though.

Had Whiny last night at The Beer Authority and loved it. Gonna try to get to Big Time after work and hopefully pick up a couple bottles. Worth the $15 IMO to share with some buddies who wouldn't otherwise try any.

I went to the Whiny tapping at The Pine Box on Monday and had 2 (first in a tulip, second in a smaller goblet thing). The hop complexity is pretty amazing. There seems to be some representation from the full spectrum of hop flavors--from tropical, to piney, to dank. That said, the ~11% ABV was a bit hot.

I picked one of these up today. A bit sweet and a bit hot, overall not bad. Not worth $15 IMHO

2014 version is on tap and in bottles. First time having it and I thoroughly enjoyed my 12 oz glass at lunch. Bought 2 bottles to take home.

15 bucks for a bomber of this super overrated DIPA? Now this is just gettin' ridiculous....
