Just wondering of anyone has heard any updates about this beer this year. I know the release date is dependent on when the beer is ready at Cantillon and how long transport to Olbutikken takes. Haven't seen any facebook updates. Releases in the past have been around late May, so I figured I'd get the ball rolling trying to collect info since a friend will be in Denmark around that time.

I haven't hear about it yet. It's worth asking on ├ślbutikken's wall. They are pretty fast to reply.

If you didn't get an answer, I asked and they said August.

It'll probably be like all the other ones I guess. 200 big, 200 small... ish.

Cantillon said on FB it's the same production volume as last year (one barrel aka 300 liters).

If anyone is in Copenhagen and has the ability to pick up an extra set, please send me a beer mail. I'll be there in October (2-6) and happy to either set-up an in-person trade or pay for the bottles outright and bring you a couple bottles as thanks.
    Cheers.

I will be in Switzerland and am open to traveling to other countries after I complete my work to do an IP trade. My travel plans are not yet finalized. But, looking at Aug. 13-23 for dates of travel. Please BM me if you can meet up.

The problem is that I doubt there's been enough time for any bottles to even get to the US, there aren't that many Europeans on BA, and there probably haven't been very many bottles opened yet.

It's a Cantillon fruit lambic, do they really vary much year to year? I'm actually asking, I haven't ever noticed any but I'm hardly an expert.

That's my experience too, but, again, fruit lambic, to be expected that it's better fresh.

This years vintage is according to me not the best fresh. But this years vintage has enormus potential to become a super beer.

There are a two things that come to mind that can lead to variation from batch to batch: The fruit and the blend. If you've had any type of fruit, you know that the flavor isn't 100% consistent from crop to crop. I'm not sure how accurate that is in describing the variation, but it seems to make sense to me.

Enjoyed this year's version more than the 2011 version fresh.
