Welp, was planning on experiencing LP Binny's Black Friday this year but the wife shot it down hardcore (which she should have). Maybe one year I'll be able to drive down in a blizzard to stand around with you fucks, but not this year.

ISO Prop and Vanilla -- I'm going to 4 Elf so we can do some swapsies. Msg me if you plan on having on for trade.

At first I assumed you were a student in a very low level econ class, and then you said "interwebz" and I thought much less of you, even after you firmly stood up for your flawed use of the supply/demand equilibrium in the beer nerd world, where logic hardly exists.

While I didn't wear tennis shoes I can't stress ^this^ enough. I wore my thermal boots and was fine. Standing on that concrete for hours in just tennis shoes will be miserable.

i personally just had some work boots on and it was most certainly not enough. soemone was courteous enough to let me have a couple of those warming strips which i placed in my shoes and it helped tremendously.

    "This Friday" is the 14th.
    "Next Friday" is the 21st.
"The Friday after next" it will be the 28th - where there will be cold nerds in a line outside Binny's.

    so,
    2010: $12/each variant
    2012: $18-19/each variant
    2014: $27/each variant

Should we expect $35/each in '16 and $42/each in '18?

No, sir... I don't like it. At the very least, regular should not be priced the same as the variants. Doesn't make any sense.

KH was ~$12-13 in 2011, so I believe that was standard pricing on the high-end GI bombers back then.

Of course, this is all complicated by price variations store-to-store and markup at boutiques/mom and pop shops.

    I bought Vanilla for $12.99 in 2010.
    King Henry cost me $14.99.
Bramble was $14.99 as well, I believe.

It's nice to know pricing for Binny's but only as a "lowest price around" benchmark. I'm sure I'll only have luck at smaller stores where this year the prices are gonna be b.a.n.a.n.a.s. - like Chiquita.

FiftyFifty get's $30 all day for Eclipse and even more for Pappy...the line will be there regardless and everything will sell out, Goose has to pay for that new barrel warehouse somehow.

  38. Drucifer

To be fair, most of the FiftyFifty bombers and even FFF/Bruery stuff doesn't sell out right away or even at all. So I think the price ceiling isn't too far off. However, BCBS is the superior product, so it may very well touch 40 in the next couple years.

Those collect dust all over Chicago in all honesty. Some Walgreen's have a stash that's been around for well over a year.

I HIGHLY doubt Bourbon County will suffer the same fate as I assume it's a better line (never had any 50/50's) and initially Bourbon County was more reasonably priced. So there are still people like myself who will buy regular or maybe a one-off Bomber as it's a more trusted source... I don't play fast and loose with $30 bombers anymore.

But for Economics 102 we'd need to consider price elasticity of demand and return on invested capital ...

An increase in price doesn't guarantee a lower demand at all. There's a point at which that would probably happen, but it all depends on how elastic the product is in general. Some react to a price increase much more rapidly than others. According to a study from last year out of Penn State, "the average beer price elasticity is about -0.20," which indicates relative inelasticity. Plus, given that this beer is so hyped-up the brewery and retailers will probably do just fine at a higher price point. If sales in established markets do slow then just expand distribution.

Also, at the beginning of this year there was news that Goose Island quadrupled its barrel aging space along with adding brewing capacity. While it's still a drop in the bucket for AB InBev's overall spending, leasing a 130,000 sqft. facility isn't free, and both accountants and shareholders want to see returns.

Should that make us feel good about paying more? But to put on a marketing hat, if you think that the beer's proof is almost the same as wine and a 4 pack by volume is about 2 bottles of wine then at $26 a 4 pack you're paying the equivalent of $13/wine bottle. It's like apples and oranges, but what wine could be similarly delicious and be had for the same price?
