If your at a bar that has a decent cider on tap ask for a Black Velvet: cider & Guiness. Being a bartender for a long time id want to make something that could be layered well. Are any of these combos able to be layered or are they just blended together?

How can people stand to mix rare/rareish beers? Crazy bountiful inventories I guess

I haven't attempted many but I could really only get Guinness to layer well out of the stouts/porters I've tried. Imperial stouts didn't seem to layer well at all.

It doesn't matter to me either way, whether it layers or not, just as long as it tastes good, imo.

By a long shot. Not only the best black & tan I've had, but one of the better beers I've had in general.

Just bought the Bass split-6 with 3 pales and 3 stouts. Decent but not Guinness. I then tried New Glarus Coffee Stout with the Bass but they did not layer, kind of a waste of beer.

You only mix a bit of the rare beer and try the black and tan, then drink the two beers alone to fully appreciate the mixture...

I know your not far from the border but I'd send you a bunch of NG Serendipity for some Darkness. I need to try this combo in a bad way.

I'm not a huge fan of mixing beers. I like to enjoy each beer as it is. But I've definitely had some combos that I enjoyed.

Perhaps my favorite was called a "Black and Blue" that was kind of a local thing to order at Durango Brewery in Colorado. It was their blueberry wheat mixed with a brown. It was rather delicious. Not something I'd want often (I'm not big on fruit beers), but it was absolutely worth trying.

At my (one and only) local brewery, Black Tooth Brewing Co, we can order a "Dirty." It's the stout mixed with the IPA. It's alright, nothing to write home about. I personally really like their IPA, so I'd rather just enjoy have it as it is.

Buddy at my job just did a Bourbon County Coffee 22oz and Allagash Curiuex 750ml.

We're now calling it the "Rich Man's Bourbon Black and Tan". He said it was amazing. He also added a shot of white whisky to it and said it was extra bourbony.

I have dreamed about doing Chocolate Rain and White Chocolate. I guess that's similar to a black and tan. But then I just wake up with wood.

My recommendation is to pour 1/4 and 1/4 of your beers. If you don't like the combo you haven't wasted 2 beers.
