BBC Press Release - Boston Beer Reports Fourth Quarter 2020 Results has the estimate barrelage (I always think in terms of volume not money ). Of the thousands of US brewing companies, past and present, not many have ever reached the 7 million bbl mark - only AB, Schlitz, Miller, Pabst, Coors, Stroh and Heileman (I think, after a quick review). The last to come close was Olympia in 1977 with 6.8M bbl., after buying Lone Star and Theo. Hamm. Of course, the inevitable question - "Yeah but what about Beer vs. FMBs, Seltzer and Cider". Dave Burwick, the Company's President and CEO answers that one:
Great, even more soda pop ciders, seltzers and such. I can envision internecine squabbling between the newly married brands- between Milton and Boston- about shelf space allocation in upcoming store sets. This does not bode well for old-line breweries. Maybe there could be a Sierra Nevada Gold Rush Gala Cider.
Wow, pretty impressive numbers, the seltzer business has been an enormous success, obviously. Honestly I don’t buy his beers but he’s been ahead of the curve and competition since SA debuted, his timing is impeccable.
