If 'limit 6' isn't enough for you, you got problems
@bottlelogiclindsay What's the correct answer here? 6 per person per day through Toast, or 6 per person total through Toast and then ability to buy more at EB?
Weird. I saw it when it first went up and then it disappeared shortly after. I decided to check their toast and it’s up there waiting to go on sale at opening but when I check their IG, it’s still hidden to me. Even when I click your link, I get nothing
At least you're honest, lol
Vanilla stouts are my wife’s favorite and I’ll drink them over the course of a couple years and with at least three distinct groups of beer friends. Sharing is caring.
6 per person, per day. So yes you could end up with 42. 49, if still available on Eventbrite. Without a mule
Same for me, when I click the link I get a "Couldn't load media" error. Oh well, I was still able to order it this morning.
Arcane Rituals b2 incoming...
Arcane b1 was one of my favorite barleywines of all time. In the running with King Henry and Cognac Church back in their primes.
I haven’t been on Eventbrite in awhile for Bottle Logic releases. Is the “Event Unavailable” message because all the bottles have been carted?
Very happy to see BL bringing back a favorite BW!
I was really hoping MT would do more BWs this year but so far, slow-going. This should hopefully help tide me over until MT does more Orc Lord variants. Think I'll have to make the drive down to OC during the week again to make sure I get enough.
Here to confirm that b2 is amazeballs. Sticky, toffee, caramel goodness, layered in a blend of incredible barrels from different spirits. This beer is, in my opinion, THE quintessential example of what a stellar barrel program should strive for. A perfect barleywine, a perfect beer. If this beer is ever discontinued in the future, I will weep.
So I finally saw the b2 details on IG, somehow missed the locals-only info post, and notice the brandy barrel component is now "peach brandy". Did that seem to affect the end product in a different way? b1 was pretty much perfection and I'm no doubt chasing this one too, but still curious.
Peach brandy barrels were in the Batch 1 blend, too! We mimicked that initial barrel blend as closely as possible for B2.
Hopefully we see more barleywines from BL moving forward.
Tried the new orange stout, Technical Challenge, a few days ago. Thought they did a good job with the flavor they were going for but I'm not a big orange-in-dark-beer person.
Plus, the chalkboard is so stacked right now I was more eager to have DM/SS/AR '21/RS '19/LR truthfully speaking
That much beer you could end up having unprotected sex with something in the back alley behind the crossfit gym.
Oh that was you I saw!
Got to open a Hypermash Hydra this past weekend and its drinking fantastic right now. Definitely recommend popping one soon if you've got any left!
Wait, is that a warning?
More a suggestion, but I do have a difficult time believing it'll taste much better than the one I just had. It's still blended perfectly but the coconut was strongest (which is the flavor I personally preferred over the cinnamon/coffee component). Who knows, I have 2 left and I may sit on one of them another year or so, For Science.
sounds like the two of us will be doing the same. Cheers.
For anyone looking for bottles of Arcane Ritual, there was about a case and a half at Total Wine Laguna Hills this afternoon. Special release section on the top shelf.
I was also very happy to find four packs of Lagerithm in the cooler!
Revisiting the Arcane Rituals talk, I don't recall getting specific notes of peach in the few bottles of b1 I had (and I definitely double, triple dipped on that after getting my first taste of that beauty), but b2 definitely has a sweeter, brighter accent right up front, which adds a really nice contrast to all the deeply complex notes it still retains from b1.
Damn fine beer and still one of the best I've ever had!!
Apologies in advance for a random unsolicited story that has nothing to do with b2. One of the beers I’ve enjoyed most in my life was Flesh to Stone, which apparently was Arcane Rituals finished in peach brandy barrels. I chanced upon it at the Civil Society taproom in West Palm Beach, of all places, on a trip for work in February 2020 before the world went to shit. Completely eye opening.
If b2 were given that treatment and bottled I’d be tempted to fly to CA to obtain it.
You are not wrong. For the Toronado BW Fest, pre-pandemic, they had ADWTD TO, Anabasis b4, VSOJ, and like 40 other barelywines on. At the end of the day, for me it came down to VSOJ and Flesh to Stone. Both were mind blowing in there own way.
And yeah, AR b2 has a bunch of peach on the back end. It's pretty awesome!
Anyone else try Currant War? I thought they again nailed the description of it, loved all the floral notes and but to me it went straight from floral to earth and skipped the jam. Maybe I didn't let it warm enough, but I'm curious to hear other peoples take on it.
So happy to finally track down a bottle of AR B2!!! Based off of the comments here, I can't wait to try it!
Has anyone tried Mass Action yet? I have been trying to track down a few bottles since banana and coconut are my jam in stouts, but I've had no luck. Need to know if I need to continue to make the effort...Ha!
I was not a fan of CW. Too tart for my tastes and the flavor generally was not appealing anywhere along the route from cold to outdoor temps. My buddy said it reminded him of medicine he took when he was a kid.
I really enjoyed MA on tap and bought a couple of bottles. For me it was mostly marshmallow with a little bit of coconut on the initial sips, which then faded into only marshmallow as it warmed. I only got the tinniest bit of banana once it was up to room temp, which I was fine with as I still haven't found a banana-fied beer that blows my mind.
Also, on a side note, it looks like as of yesterday BL has re-opened interior seating. Buddy posted pics of the seats being back at the bar with people saddled up in them. I'm personally still not yet comfortable drinking/eating in indoor spaces, so I'll stick to the patio for now if possible. I just hope they install misters or fans or something as we move into the summer months to help cool it down a little.
I loved Mass Action. I didn't get much banana. I know some people were expecting Equivalent Dose banana and it wasn't close to that.
It was actually my first beer on tap since everything shut down last year. I bought my bottles on the Sunday it came out, got there at opening and it was pretty dead. Sat down and had a pour.
MA was good but I basically got a little whiff of banana on the aroma out of the bottle and that was it. The rest was coconut and marshmallow. Wasn't bad at all, but wasn't the banana forward experience I was hoping for.
My experience with Mass Action was completely different. Had that banana-runts flavor dominate the bottle I opened. Coconut was subtle on the finish and didn’t notice the marshmallow.
This sounds like the best possible scenario for me with this beer. I was over 'banana stouts' about 1/2 way into my first one--and then 20 more breweries released their own versions, lol. If the banana is faint, I might be able to enjoy this one more than expected. Love marshmallow and coconut in stouts
If you have any, or know of any, banana-bonanza stouts to get my fix, feel free to let a brother know.
I never got into trading since there's a lot of good beer in Southern California. Just been sticking to my local watering holes.
There may be recent examples, but I think you are mostly about a year late. A lot of breweries put out banana-heavy stouts last year--MT, HPB, GC to name a few. Amazing flavors, but best in small doses, imo.
Thought of you as soon as I saw the IG post. Got a proxy yet? It's a super easy process if you find one.
