I will be visiting Firestone Walker this weekend and want to check out the local bottle selection. I'm looking for recommendations on good bottle shops in this area. Thanks for your help.

    Cheers!

If you're heading this way, you might as well head all the way to Buellton for Barrelworks and try Firestones full lineup. If you do, check out these bottle shops: 'Old Town Market' in Orcutt, and 'California Fresh' in Grover Beach.

Awesome info, I forgot about the barrelworks, thanks Skunkdrool!

Its my friends B-day, he lives in Paso near Firestone, don't think anyone will be able to drive the extra hour home. Might have to put that one off until the GF's are invited and DD'ing haha.

I thought Barrelworks was at Firestone?!
Also those 2 places which I marks on my map sound good but are way far. Are there any bottle shops closer to FW or at least to the east/south of it?

Barrelworks is in Buellton, which is about 1.5 hours south of the Firestone headquarters in Paso Robles.

OP: Don’t forget to check the Firestone bottleshop itself (it’s east of the restaurant) – they usually have a few of the Barrelworks releases and Proprietor’s (I was there a couple weeks ago and they had Bretta Weisse, Lil Opal, Parabola, and Double DBA).

Not sure what part of CA you're in, but there aren't actually a lot of beer options in the Central Coast. I've been down a few times to visit my GF's parents and can tell you the pickin's are slim. BA lists one store in Paso called Savage Spirits. Those shops listed above likely are the closest thing south of Paso and east is...agriculture and hills. There are Bevmos in San Luis and Paso as well.

If you can, I suggest heading into Morro Bay and go to Libertine Pub. They have 48 taps of awesome stuff, including their own sours (which are pretty kick ass)

Yeah, Im in Santa Maria, and we have a great selection here. But anything north of Pismo is pretty slim. Even San Luis, which is a college town, has a relatively dry bottle selection.

FOr bottle shops California Fresh in Pismo is probably best selection in SLO County. BevMo in Paso will have a decent amount of what we get around here and is basically across the fwy from FW. In SLO Lincoln Market and Deli has just added some Cascade beers to their selection, otherwise hit and miss. In Santa Margarita Dunbar Brewing(disclosure I pour beer there Friday and Sat nights)has a real good selection of bottles and 12 taps, some house beers some real nice guest taps. Other options in Paso specifically, Eagle Energy gas station off 46 actually has ok stuff and the Pour House in Paso is a solid beer bar.

The brewery store at FW in Paso will have most of their reserve series stuff including older vintages at a hefty mark up

do not know the names but there are a slew of liquor stores in pismo and shell beach that usually have a ton of firestone walker barrel aged beer sitting on the shelves. they are all on the main coastal road west of the 101. heck, you could probably find a stone 15th anniversary beer sitting on the shelves of some of those stores.

Ahhhh. I didn't even know there was a FW in Paso Robles. I live in Valencia and am planning a trip to Barrelworks soon and was wondering what bottle shops I could hit up on the way back. Sorry to semi highjack the thread. I didn't know there was another Firestone.

Theres no 15th, 16th, mayyyyybe a 17th (doubt it) anywhere on the Central Coast.

When are you hitting Barrelworks? Bevmo in SM typically has a weird supply of FW stuff. A ton of DDBA currently. If youre looking for other stuff, check out Old Town Market in Orcutt, and California Fresh in Grover. Let me know, maybe I'll join you at Barrelworks. Im 15 minutes away.

They ended up having 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th avail at the brewery store in the back, and parabola 2012 for $50.

Hoping to piggy back here on this thread. Heading down to SLO for a few days, with a quick trip to Morro Bay (Libertine) & FW in Paso, but mostly stay in SLO. Are there any casual spots to take the family for food (pizza, burgers type). Nothing fancy but I'd prefer a decent beer selection on tap, not the usual Blue Moon & Stone IPA. Only thing I've really found is Eureka Burgers, Firestone Grill. Am I on the right track here?

And its been over half a year, any new bottle shops open up or newer breweries doing good things?
