Im in Chicago for the day and I'm looking for a bottle shop that will let you pull singles. There are a lot of brews I want to try, I just can't justify buying a bunch of 4pcks and 6pcks. I'm staying in Evanston but am in the loop as I write this. I also have a car so can get around wherever of I need to. Thanks!

Archer liquors near midway airport lets you break any 4 or 6 packs even cans. Very good selection too.

Yes, Binny's locations do have shelves for make your own six packs, but they do not have every beer available for this. You cannot break up packs at any Binnys that I am aware of. Not sure of anywhere besides that Archer, and a place in Indiana that lets you do this.

Evolution Wine & Spirits (the location off Lincoln Ave, just south of Addison) has a great selection of singles. I think you have to pick 4 or 6 (or multiples thereof), but everything is reasonably priced. Seems that if there's a beer in a 4/6-pack, you'll find it available as a single, too. Binny's flat price (9.99/build-your-own 6-pack) is nice but, as mentioned, you're pretty limited in what you can pick from to make your 6-pack.

Say what you will about the old Armanetti's (and there is plenty to say), I really think they had the best selection of singles in the city. Glad to see Evolution is keeping that going.

Evolution is your best bet as stated above.

FWIW, I was at Glen Ellyn Binny's getting some BCBS last week and I asked about the Sierra Nevada Stout in singles, the beer guy walked over to the rack of singles, couldn't find the beer, but went and got a six pack off the shelf and threw a sticker on a bottle and sold it to me for $1.99 if I remember right.

In Fine Spirits in Andersonville if you're heading back up north. The Trader Joe's in the Gold Coast has a pretty decent selection and they allow mix and matching.

I too am very interested in this. The Mariano's downtown actually has a good selection.

best is bottles and cans. if you ask, they'll split up most anything in the store. archer though, you can just pull singles out of random holders so it's a bit more convenient in that regard.
