Yes, it is ridiculous. A 9oz pour for $15. I have had it for $4-$5 for a 4oz pour, and it was available TODAY at Fountainhead for (I believe) an 8oz pour for $10. Yes its only $5 and most will happily pay it to try a rare, delicious beer, but its being marked up ridiculously at this point. As for the King Henry. What was it available for at liquor stores? $15? Double that for a full bomber long after it is discontinued is well worth the cost imo.

If someone made the assumption I meant at a liquor store, I am sorry. I was talking solely about KH availability at restaurants/bars.

You see the dissonance there, right? It doesn't matter what other bars are charging for it. If you're happy paying $30 for a bomber of King Henry "long after it is discontinued" (only 6-ish months now, btw), there is some sort of disconnect between that and your frustration for paying $36.67 adjusted bomber price for something that was discontinued a full year earlier. Also, a 2+ times markup at a bar in the Chicago area is typically a steal, no?

Or maybe we just have different definitions of "ridiculous".

Monks on Lake has Coffee ($9 pour) and Scarlett ($8 pour) still on from last night.

There was only one batch brewed, I think it was around 4,000 cases that hit the shelves. There is an additional ~25,000 cases worth that GI already stated (on their FB about 5 weeks ago) will be release "draft only" in a handful of states. The "earliest" date they gave for it going out was May 14.

In conversations yesterday, many of you were right - BCS Vanilla is still the batch from bottling. They squirreled away several kegs.

On another note, Scarlett kegs out this week are the same batch from late summer/fall of last year. It was drinking amazingly good last night

    Chi,
You seem to be confusing a second Bramble Release with a second '11 BCBS release.

Bramble was like Vanilla, a one and done. Bramble was very labor intensive and took a lot of volunteers to put 60lbs of blackberries or 40lbs of raspberries in each barrel. Whatever GI planned to ship to store/restaurants has already happened and is mostly gone now (I did find a bottle at a random bar last weekend). I would bet money that GI still has cases of it in their warehouse for special events and such, so there's still hope of finding another taste at some point.

Rare, Vanilla, Bramble and even Coffee are amazing variations to an already fantastic beer. Can't wait to see what Porter, Laffler and their crews come up with next!

The kegs at Paddy Longs blew in 20 minutes last night. And if you got $$$ to blow, Ms Murphy & Sons is serving up:
    Goose Island Bourbon County Brand

    2010 Rare Stout (650ml) $100
    2011 Coffee Stout (650ml) $30
    2007 Bourbon Stout (355ml) $25
    Goose Island Bourbon C

Dammit that Rare is just about worth it to me. There was a place nearby recently that had bottles for $60 and I went the day after they sold out. $100 is the next cheapest I know of...

Well if it honestly comes with a free slab of ribs, that changes everything. I can justify the cost now. On my way over. Don't tell my wife.

Any confirmation on the free ribs?

Yes, it's right on the menu. I almost bit the bullet myself, but have a hard time justifying it.

Their ribs are pretty fucking good, too. Honestly, if I had not consumed Rare in the past, I would have been all over it.

Anyone go to Beer Bistro North (formerly SmallBar Fullerton) for BCS '12 on draft last night? They also had Coffee, Bramble (both $25), Night Stalker ($22) and '10 bottles ($12).

We did a '10 and three drafts ($8 each). Too bad the food there kinda sucks, SmallBar had introduced a nicer menu in their last few months.

Any sightings near Madison, WI? I'm heading up there this weekend and would love to get a glass of BCBS

I was there around 9 and there were only a handful drinking it. Should still be on tap this afternoon. I wasn't sure whether to call it BCBS 11 or 12. It wasn't given a year on the menu. I guess if they're going to a year-round release schedule eventually, the year won't mean quite as much.

Yeah I wasn't sure if it was properly called '12, but the menu did say at the top (the title for the whole menu) Bourbon County Stout 2012. I didn't notice many drinking it either (though I'm sure the bottles are pretty much gone -- I got the last '10), so some folks should get lucky today.

Did anyone get Rare? How much were they charging?

It wasn't for sale. Apparently there was just one bottle of Rare that was split among staff & customers before I got there. Which is ok, I had a several pours at Delilah's BA tasting on St. Patrick's Day.
