As those who have had it are aware, the story on the packaging claims that the beer is a perfect cigar beer, so long you can find a smoke that can hold up.

In the past 6 years or so that I've been drinking the beer, I have never smoked with it. This past year however, I have dove into the cigar world head first and will certainly be having a smoke with this years BCBS.

Would like to hear peoples experience with parings (specifically with BCBS with a cigar), good or bad.

    Thanks, and cheers.

I like big beers and full bodies cigars. I dont put too much thought into paring perse though. I just basically decide on which beer I want and then I pick a cigar that I want to smoke. Cant say Ive ever had a "bad" paring.

thats what I was thinking about doing, just grabbing a full bodied maduro and giving it a shot. But of course some cigars are more earthy, or leathery, or spicy etc. the more and more i educate myself on beer and food pairings, however, makes me more inclined to find the right type of smoke. Thanks for the input

I would never pair a good beer with good cigar. Compromises the flavor of the beer. If I do indulge in a good stogie, (not too often anymore) it's usually paired with something like Pabst, Genny Bock, Yeungling, etc.

I would initially think this would be a bad idea. I mean, we all go out of our minds and pay studid prices to get BCBS because its so full of delicious, complex flavors. I would think that the cigar would just diminish that - why not try a cheaper stout? The idea of a cigar and a great beer creates this very romantic image, but I don't think I'd want that in real life.

I'd like to hear more opinions from people who pair cigars with drinks on par with BCBS (beer, liquor, etc.). I'm not a cigar smoker so maybe I just don't get it.

In a similar vein, I rarely smoke cigars, but when I do it's obviously with beer. I usually reach for something craft that I've had before and nothing too special. Cigars wreak havoc on your palate and I would not be able to fully appreciate the flavors of the BCBS in that situation, which I would not like. I'm strongly a believer in "whatever floats your boat" though, so smoke away OP. I'm sure you'll enjoy the pairing.

For the critics - Cigars and liquor go magically together, as does cigars and coffee, and cigars with beer. As does wine with food and beer with food. Pairings, of any sort, when done correctly, bring out a symphony of flavors that is quite amazing. And hell, if i burn a cigar with a bcbs and it's horrible, well, i have 3 others to enjoy. Lessons learned. But when the big man himself is saying (on the packaging, of all things) its perfect when paired with a cigar, how could I not find that tempting even beyond my original love of pairings. Cheers!

It goes great - BCBS is a big boozy bourbon bomb, so it pairs pretty much like you'd expect a cigar to pair with bourbon. I actually used to do this one a lot back when near-unlimited BCBS was on shelves year-round.

Yeah. I have read a little about it. I don't know if a Maduro would go well as I would think the chocolate flavors would compete. Maybe something at the other end of the spectrum...something spicy like a peppin or a tat....

You can never go wrong with a Series V and for the money they're very hard to beat.....a favorite of mine too...now I want one lol

And yeah I know we all know that smoking a cigar with a beer will probably dull the flavors of the beer and the beer will probably dull the flavors of the cigar, but honestly it all still tastes good. Were enjoying ourselves and thats really all that matters in the grand scheme of things right.

Although I prefer bourbon with a cigar, I really like a Drew Estates Java cigar with most all stouts, including BCBS.

I've paired a few cigars with BCBS, BA4D, and some other beers. I've always been a fan of a Liga Privada No. 9 with a BCBS, but I've also had an Fuente Añejo #77 (Shark) with BCBCS, and that was killer.

Liga Privada Feral Pig was pretty tasty with the BA4D when I paired that.

When you start getting into some of the nicotine bombs like the Tatuaje T110/AVION/Fausto line, those i usually won't pair with a beer. I had attempted to pair an OpusX BBMFM with an Espresso Yeti once, and had to switch to scotch.

I've been eyeballing the liga privada 9 for a bit now. Might be reason to pick one up finally. Might need to get another 4 pack to try all these cigar pairing :grinning:

Not fond of tobacco, but BCBS with a jazz cigarette is a truly wonderful experience.
