It seems this bottle is trading off the charts right now, any thoughts on why?

Groupthink, hivemind, etc. All it takes is an ISO or two (or a thread here) offering desirable bottles for a beer and the "value" skyrockets. The freaking trading forums have become a microcosm of Wall Street.

To further add to the hype, I had 8oz of it about 2 months ago and it was probably the best beer I've ever had. Easily the best of the variants.

Released nearly two years ago, 433 bottles, and is likely the best variant of Dark Lord? That's probably why.

    A) Only released once in bottles (433 bottles total) and like stxSS07, there have been a quite a few ISO's recently when I haven't seen one for months
    B) It's really really tasty (More important than A)

Personally, it was my favorite DL treatment out of all the '11 and '12 variations.

It's the only DL that's drinkable

You don't find the PVW Dark Lord drinkable?

I'm happy with "regular" Dark Lord. Picky bastards.

Funny man. All the BA Dark Lords are worth the hype. I will echo the sentiments stated above that Brandy Vanilla is probably the best. I would go as far as to say it is the best beer I have ever tasted. Been trying to land one forever, but with how it has very recently exploded in value, it probably won't happen.

I was under the assumption that it always traded very high, so I'm not sure why some here are complaining about a "recent" surge in value...

IS the brandy vanilla really that good?

I can't wait until later this year when we get the gang together and open it now.

Agreed. I have been trying to get one for awhile with no luck. I have a bottle of Bourbon Vanilla plus that I am willing to swap for one. I might have to try again and bump up the stakes, but who knows how many are even left.

Of the 8 variants that have been bottled, it is my second favorite only to the 2012 Bourbon Dark Lord. However, I got to try a growler of the bourbon vanilla from 2011 (not bottled) and that was the very best variant, IMHO.

Could anyone confirm which BA DLs were on tap at DLD '12? Was it Brandy Vanilla and PvW DL?

If so, Brandy Vanilla is my favorite beer of all time. It's fucking amazing.

I still say BBVDL > BVDL, but I also thought a bottle of White Chocolate smelled a little like brisket, so what do i know?
