I don't follow along too closely so maybe I missed it, but what's up with Brew d'Etat and Just Plain Wrong? Both appear to be operating in the south metro and neither appears to have a taproom.

Brew d'État does indeed have a very small brewery in Burnsville. It changed ownership earlier this year after a very brief run started in late 2017 and focused on the questionable strategy of brewing on demand for weddings and other special occasions under the original ownership. It runs a 1.5-barrel system (making it a true nanobrewery) and has only around 1000 square feet of space, if I recall correctly, which would make having a taproom challenging, although I seem to recall that a taproom is under consideration. It has seven liquor store clients and a few occasional bar clients as of this writing. I recently picked up a true 32-ounce crowler of a Brew d'État Rye IPA and found it surprisingly good, a well-above average and well-executed beer. Keep an eye out on this one.

Just Plain Wrong is some sort of Inbound BrewCo spinoff / client brewer / latest of many brand names.

I just read the press release a little closer. The current brewer seems to have some chops. Wonder how long he has been there?

@islay about summed it up - we've got 10 batches out the door and 2 new ones in brite tanks, under our new but still questionable strategy of a distribution-only 1.5 bbls. (The smallest in MN?)

So we're staying under the radar for now, but we'd like to be an open book - ask us anything. A taproom is under consideration now; or conceptually more of a tasting/growler room given our current space.

Very cool - I've seen your stuff at Shakopee Hy-Vee and didn't know anything about it so I've never been tempted to grab one. Checked out the social and the IPAs look like something I'd be interested (DDH Hazies 4 lyfe).

I saw Turtles had a keg on from these guys (a pickle beer?) and was surprised to see them listed as Shakopee, MN, since I work in Shakopee and had heard nothing of a new brewery opening up.

YOERG BREWING COMPANY: Pub Update: 11/28/2018

We're done. We are absolutely done. We just wish we could tell you when we were going to open. Here's where we at; the city has decided that we have to upgrade a whole bunch of electrical stuff. We are now negociating with the city to give us 60 days to do the upgrade (very expensive upgrades by the way) and let us open our doors. Our fingers are crossed. If they give us the reprieve, we then have two final inspections and we can open. We have 40 half barrels of Bavarian & Czech beers sitting in cold storage, our freezers and refrigerators are stocked full of food, our wine brokers are anxiously awaiting shipping us our wine. Stay tuned and we are now hoping for a soft opening late next week. Prayers accepted.

Just Plain Wrong is Dennis Gertgen, the brewer at Inbound. He lives in Shakopee, that is all. Basically makes a beer or 2 that Turtle's puts on tap. No idea what he is trying to accomplish.

Don't think Shakopee and Scott County need another brewery! (I wish Prior Lake's brewery actually made good beer so I could walk there).

Who died and made her a beer expert? She used to come on WCCO radio, I think it was the Hartman show and she sounded like a mental patient. From then on I disregarded anything she has done.

Lazy Loon Brewing Company is planning on opening a new brewery and taproom in Glencoe, about an hour west of the Twin Cities. I don't think the fall opening mentioned in this article (linked) from July is going to happen. Lazy Loon currently operates out of Victoria and serves its beer at an associated bowling alley called Lazy Loon Lanes in Norwood Young America.

Let's hope they figured something out. A friend of mine and I visited their bowling alley two winters ago and each tried their lineup. We finished none of them. Out of the five or six sampled between us, they were just either downright bad or had clear off flavors. It remains the worst beer I've had in the state and, as often reported on this forum (and in this thread), there are some relative stinkers out there.

I went out there last winter, it was an odd experience to say the least. It's a small 8 lane bowling alley with maybe 4 stool bar/service counter. It's pretty run down, serviceable as a bowling alley sure. Think I was there around 3 or 4 in the afternoon on a Saturday so it was full of children for birthday parties. You'd barely know they served their own beer, which was terrible.
