Anybody hear an update on Cosmos' Oakdale taproom?
    It's been awhile.

That was a quick fall for them. What's the Minnesota record for quickest closing anyway?

Cosmos' Hugo brewery has ceased operations, but the Oakdale taproom plan or at least hope persisted after the shuttering. I'm not optimistic about it ever coming to fruition.

In the craft beer era, Harwell's Steakhouse & Brewery in Shakopee (2002-2003) and All Americwn Grill & Brewhouse in Waverly (2008-2009) are among the shortest-lived. I do think Cosmos might have the state record at least for shortest-lived production brewery (opened 2017). Other short-lived breweries include Dubrue in Duluth, Staples Mill in Stillwater, and Pour Decisions in Roseville (all 2011-2013). Blacklist took over Dubrue's space (and later moved). Staples Mill trucked in its wort from North Carolina, for some bizarre reason, if I recall correctly, but fermented it here. Pour Decisions was purchased by Bent Brewstillery, which took control of its space and kept the Pour Decisions head brewer. Surely Brew d'État in Burnsville, which made it just a few months under its original ownership, would hold the record had it not found a buyer. Also, there have been some very short-lived Minnesota-based client brewing companies.

I'm an optimist, but I'm still holding out hope. What little I tried from them was pretty decent.

And there's definitely still room for another taproom in the area, even if 3rd Act beat them to opening in the "Beermuda Triangle" formed by Spiral, Lift Bridge, and St. Paul.

I've never understood the difference between a 'soft opening' and a 'grand opening'. You're either open or you aren't.

I only tried “Buzzed Aldrin”, and it was not really my cup of tea.

With no taproom and only a few dozen retail and on-sale accounts, I’m surprised that they made it as long as they did. But on the other hand, over the past five years I’ve been surprised to see so many breweries seemingly thriving in an increasingly dynamic marketplace.

Not to surprised to learn of Gull Dam closing:

It could just be me, but I feel like Bent’s pushing for this change to cover up the fact that their beer tastes like rotten ass.

It’s a come on in but don’t judge us as we work out the kinks...

I strongly suspect that the house-brewed beer is not yet ready to be served (or produced at all), in which case this will be an opening of the bar only with the brewing component to come later.

That's right, plus maybe in this case were not fulling operating yet, limited offerings in beer and maybe even food. along with we don't have our own beer yet too. I was thinking of going there this weekend but might pass, I am wondering if there will be too many people there

I agree but people will still judge a brand new brewery even if it's not "officially" open and often post a poor review here on BA.

Alright. I did have some green/minty beer they made for St. Patty's Day. Had it at Stanley's NE. It sucked. Like really, really sucked. But it was just a gimmick beer of course.

Mint and similar herbs can be tough to pull off in fruit/vegetable beers (and green colored beer doesn’t appeal to everyone), so I’ll give them credit for originality.

I’ll add that between the two or three regular liquor stores that I frequent the most regularly, I never saw their full range. But with fifty or sixty “packaging breweries” in the state (throw mobile canning services and taprooms with self distribution of crowlers into the mix) it’s getting more difficult to find a cold box or dry shelf spot at retail.
