Breweries opening in Minnesota 2013/2014

My neighbor is a VP at BWW and I was talking to him this weekend about if they were going to finally expand in Maple Grove. Last time we talked about it, he said they wanted to, but it was too expensive. It sounds as though Don Pablo's isn't doing well and they have an in and it is being considered to be converted. From what we were talking about craft beer, BWW may bring a solid tap line. I guess there were involved with a deal with InBev to get New Glarus Spotted Cow on tap across the country exclusively at BWW outside of Wisconsin.

It isn't quite Maple Grove, but Hayes Public House in Bufallo is worth checking out. Solid beers, really liked their Hillbilly Peach Picker and the owner/head brewer is a great guy. I also heard some guys in Hanover are looking to open a brewery/taproom in Hanover. They tried to get the old fire house, but could secure it, but they are still looking.

 

Knowing Dan Carey a little I can almost guarantee you that InBev will not ever be a part owner of New Glarus or distribute their beer. New Glarus isn't leaving Wisconsin.

 

I have heard that before and in fact my brother in law lives right next to the town of New Glarus. He has had similar talks with and it sounded like it would never leave Wisco. I told him that and he was adiment that it was happening. It will be interesting to see what pans out.

It wasn't that InBev would be co-owner, just that they would be distributing it.

My wife and I stopped in there a few weeks ago, but the beers were off. We started with a sampler, and all but one of them had a noticeable plastic/band-aid off taste. It's been a few years since I've been active as a beer judge, but even my wife noticed it. I never know what to do in that situation. Do you go up and tell the brewer that all of his beers are infected? I didn't. They have a nice space. I wish them luck.

Clyde Iron Works has confused me for a while, because they are a pub, but they have their own beer, but it isn't brewed on premesis. Maybe I'll just move them to my contract brew section of my list.

Technically, Shot Beer is ours, too.

 

I was mainly going for a "quick" re-cap, but that is tough with 70 'new' plans since 2006.

I also neglected to include Northbound in the second section. By all accounts they are great!

Yep, Shot/Libertas and Lost Lake (although I can't find the P.O. Box for Lost Lake's La Crescent DBA.)

 

I didn't check the second section too deeply, only for changes to stuff I wasn't quite aware of (Wenonah opening, and pulling the equipment from Wellington's - now I wish I made it to Wellington's when they were still a brewpub), so didn't really notice Northbound wasn't on the list.

That is across the street from me. Not sure if that is a good thing. Better than downstairs which one of the groups starting breweries in Waconia was scouting.

 

I sent an email to Bob D. at Waconia Brewing earlier today, and he was a great help in getting a positive i.d. on the mysterious "Soggyswamp Microbrewery", and evidently it's the fine folks at Schram Vineyards.

P.S. @morimech, I'm hazarding a guess by your last transmission and it sound like there's a third or maybe even fourth brewery plan for Waconia -- you lucky far-western suburbs people, you~!

I do not think there is a fourth yet and the third is mostly rumors. Maybe the fourth is mine j/k. Looking quite nice out here with the vineyards, breweries, and distillers open or soon to be open.
