The first time I read this thought it said "...venture up there to the end of the earth".

    Must get caffeine.

Finally hit up Sisyphus last night. Easy to get to from the West burbs and easy free parking to be found on the street. The tap room wasn't too crowded with folks playing shuffle board and board games. The beer was decent the workers were very friendly. I liked the Oatmeal Stout the best. The DIPA was a pretty tasty mango/tropical fruit bomb, not too hoppy. The Brett IPA was interesting, might need a few more to make a call on it. I will definitely be making more appearances.

Ridiculous, slobbering Craft Beer Geek™ fanboy emails sometimes get results (edited for the sake of clarity and brevity):
So! Pencil in an opening date for Gunflint Tavern's Nano-system sometime mid-September. Bring your mukluks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Waconia Brewing had their equipment delivered this week and they're claiming mid-September opening. I don't remember a lot from when I homebrewed but that seems like an aggressive schedule.

Huh. I was really unimpressed with that beer, but to be fair I've only had it once and it was a while back.

Here's a sort-of fun, all-in-one way to sample some of the newest breweries in the Twin Cities, proper:

P.S. The price may strike a few of you cheapskates as steep, but it looks okay to me -- considering the cost of everything, these days. :sunglasses:

    Steep? It's $29 right now...

Correct, but being $45 on the day of the event it suddenly might look like a novelty tee-shirt plus a couple of free pints, and sampling at the one or two new places (U.G., !, B.B., and T.W.) which you haven't already visited -- less of a bargain. I'd be interested in this myself (a straight shot on the Green Line, hitting a few...) but I am just plain busy at work this month.

I've posted a link to one of this outfit's tours before, and as memory serves there were a few of you more ambitious guys who chimed-in about how much easier it would be to drive up and back, since gas was still cheap, yada yada*.

(*Deep down I knew that most of us would rather not sit in the back of a chartered bus with a bunch of bearded dudes.)

Perhaps, but most pros can turn around even a fairly strong beer in about ten days time.

Lake Monster is the shit. For contract brew to be that awesome, I can see sky the limit for Lake Monster. Calhoun Claw and Empty Rowboat are both outstanding brews.

Yeah, I personally think both of those beers are very tasty. Especially the pilsner.

Drove by Gull Dam in Nisswa this weekend. If the inside looks as great as the outside, this is going to be a nice taproom. If the beer lives up to the location, this will be a regular stop up to the cabin.

As per their Facebook page, Bent Brewstillery's taproom will (re)open August 21st.

Two breweries in Nisswa? This doesn't sound like Gull Dam. Not being a resident of up north, I hope both can make it work. On the other hand, there are enough bars around in every town, so if they've got a good taproom experience, it could work.
