I stopped by Able Seedhouse and Brewery on Sunday, and was impressed with things considering they have only been open a month or so. The beers were all clean which speaks volumes for a new brewery. Both the stout and the IPA stood out to me as beers that have high upside once they tune in the operations of their brew house. One thing that I did notice was how low all of the beers were ABV wise. This leads me to believe they had some efficiency issues with brewing on a new system. This makes the fact that the beers were clean more meaningful in my mind, and in turn gives me high hopes of them producing really nice beers in the near future.

I have no doubt that they are designed to be lower ABV beers. Some of the ABVs, however, where so low that I assumed they weren't designed to be that low. I mean a 3.7% stout is not something you see every day. I wouldn't have said anything if it were 4.2%, but 3.7% seems really low to me. It was tasty though...thin bodied, but tasty.

Disgruntled Brewing in Perham got their federal approval and is now working on the city and state approvals and hope to open in a couple months.

Revelation Ale Works in Hallock, MN (the NW corner of the states 70 miles north of Grand Forks) is renovating an old service station and hope to open by the Fall. In addition to beer they plan on brewing kombucha and root beer.

If a brewery can make a go in Hallock, a brewery could be in any town in Minnesota. This will be the ultimate test of brewery sustainability if they make it for the long run.

Hopefully Revelation's Kickstarter doesn't get shut down. They are offering growler fills as a reward. I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the pheasant hunt.

A 3 BBL system isn't very sustainable anywhere. It will definitely be an uphill climb.

I have no inside info, but according to their FB page, Wicked Wort (Robbinsdale) started brewing last week.

Of the (many) startups taking shape over the past couple of years, they've probably been the most consistent when it comes to the updates to their Facebook page (their website is a different matter).

It looks )to me) like they have their swag and logo pints ready, and are just waiting on the bar and seating area build-out.
The exterior looks good -- better than the original architectural rendering if ya ask me:

I stopped in at Modist to grab my items for being a Modist maker. The build out seems to be progressing really well. They expect their brewing equipment in the near future and are hoping for a February opening I believe.

This is just simply not true. Nano breweries can be and are very sustainable all across the US.

Does anyone know if Angry Inch ran into money problems or similar? They went from hashtagging every other brewery in the state daily to almost full shutdown of their social media. I guess they missed their July 2015 opening. I see a few updates such as that they got their equipment, but that doesn't really mean much when their is 1000 other things that need to happen.
