There’s a really solid local brewery around me called Sibling Revelry.

It’s a shame because that name just....really doesn’t roll off the tongue. Very good brewery though.

Great names: Pen Druid, Noble Beast, Jailbreak, Nowhere in Particular

Stupid names: Dobra Zupas, Sneaky Tiki, Hopsters

Ones I honestly can't decide: Vitamin Sea, Farmacy, Community Bruin Co.

    I like Hoof Hearted.

Had a great time when I was there. Great staff and beer. A bit too modern feel but once I was having a beer and talking with the bar tender I did not really notice.

They are into metal video games and cartoons so the graphics and names work for them. I’m a kid at heart so I’m ok with it. If the beer was bad I would just keep walking.

Off the top of my head I can’t think of many I love or hate.

I have to do a better job keeping you up to date on West Michigan happenings. Gonzo's 'merged' with Saugatuck Brewing, and I believe it is now going to be called Saugatuck BC - Kalamazoo. I'll verify the legal proceedings are complete and then request a name change here on BA.

Dislike: Cheap Gimmicky names and brands.

Like: Family named breweries (Hill Farmstead, Suarez Family Brewery, Spada Farm Brewery, Casey Brewing & Blending, pFriem Family Brewers, etc).

Bought this the last time I was in Portland:

    Yep, Brother Ass Brewing. Stupid.

And yes, everyone knows about these guys:

Not terribly weird, but what about their strange cousin:

This one is near my house; I know Jersey is a weird place, but still:

This one is more of a day trip, but still within driving distance, and they do some weird stuff:

Great name: Lion Bridge, Cedar Rapids. Located in the Czech Village area, just down the street from the Bridge of Lions. The lion is featured on the Bohemian coat of arms and represents bravery, valor, and strength.

Hoof Hearted needs to brew a beer called "Ice Melted" and finish the joke.

They could throw in "Fargin Iceholes" and "Cork Suckers" as well.

I haven't been there yet (I think the take-over occurred back in the spring) and can't find anything definitive about Gonzo's beers, but it looks like it will be all Saugatuck beers. Gonzo's Vanilla Porter was popular and would have been a recipe that Saugatuck would have wanted, but I don't see it listed on their website.

Bad Brewing has a cool taproom and they make some good barrel aged beers - it's too bad that their name and marketing kind of drags them down. I wouldn't even mind the name so much if they didn't also have such bush league branding: a "bad" version of the yellow smiley face, but with big scary teeth. Whose child designed that, and why haven't they come up with anything more professional in the last 5 years?

I didn't give them a very good review when I visited their pub during the first year that they were open, so I need to get back there and give their beers another whirl to see if I can revise my rating numbers.

There’s a Brewery here in NJ called Bolero Snort. It’s an anagram of the owners name. It’s a horrible name for a brewery but to add insult to injury all their beers are cow/moo related names.

Stupid: Any brewery directly named after it's founder/brewer (not into egotists or legacies).

Great: Ninkasi (goddess of fermentation) - short and to the point

WYG: Spermentation Brewing Company, flagship beer would be a Nut Brown...jk

I would name a brewery something clever-ish bordering on pun but not so juvenile like...
If a sour only brewery I might call it something like "Biting Back Brewing Co."
but a general brewery I would probably call it "Tank and Plank Brewing"

And they are more interested in the goofy "cow" branding then they are letting people know what style beer is in the can. Just check out their portfolio and see how few of them are labeled with the type of beer.
