Anyone else had them recently? I always found them to be quite lacklustre, but just recently they've been turning out some absolutely stellar stuff. I really see these guys as ones to watch. Maybe new brewer Jon Queally has the magic touch?!

I had a few of their beers at a festival two-odd years ago and thought they were fairly mediocre. Can you recommend some of the newer, better ones?

I just drank two of their beers earlier today - the Dalston's Black IPA (7.0%) and their London Porter (7.8%). I preferred the former, and found both to be good. Not great, but definitely good. At the lower end of the ABV spectrum, I also enjoyed their Brainwave at the London Drinker fest earlier this week.

I had the Awesomestowe IPA and the Brodies Brick in Soho and thought they were world class- seriously. On the same day, however I had two of their beers (I forget which) at the William IV and they were both awful, so thinking they're still inconsistent, but going through a period of transition. But if they can match and build on the 2 beers I had in Soho, then i expect good things from them.

I've only tried a Brodies beer once, at the York festival last year. Can't remember what it was (London red or something), but thought it was nice with plenty of aromatic hops. Would love to try more from this brewery - I'm a bit surprised to hear that they are thought of as mediocre, but they don't often get mentioned (compared with other London breweries).

I think they suffer from simply producing too many different beers!

They are only a smallish brewery yet churn out dozens per year.

They've always been shall we say more hit than miss, but a few of the beers they put out can be a little average

I've only had one bad beer at the William IV that had clearly gone past it's best, one of their 9/10% jobbies (Superior London Porter I think - but nothing superior about it in this case!), but you have a big old pub with up to a dozen beers on and I guess the odd one gets left behind bearing in mind most folks are locals so are on the 4% ABV beers or the lagers

All told I must have had getting on for 20 or more different Brodies

Highlights definately include ... Hoxton IPA, Californian and Summer Stout (a 2.8% ABV stout!)

I've been up the William IV twice and aside from the porter above all has been good quality, one or two slightly bland the rest very enjoyable

I'm actually due a trip down there soonish, anyone fancy a Friday after work sometime nearer the summer?

They just keep getting better and better. The only variable quality I've experienced was as the King William IV who had obvious cellar issues in a warm summer.

The beers they had at Derby Winter beerfest were sublime - Dalston Black and Hackney Red were eye-poppingly good. They're now distributing via Boggarts so expect to see them out and about beyond the M25. My local has a pallet-load on order.

High-hopping seems to have become their hallmark of late. Queally has many attributes, including hair high enough to lose a kite in, and has really found his groove.

Have to agree with Ruds about producing too many beers to be consistent. Why is it our contemporary brewers feel the need to produce two new beers each week? Is it because they can't be bothered to get it right every time?
That said I had the Dalston Black this week and it was OK, nothing special
