I tried (oh my god did I try!)...But couldn't finish Ukulele. First drain pour ever. Forgetting the experience with a Ruebarb.

Any ideas for the Hoarders blending session? Base beers are Black Tuesday, Anniversary, Mash, and White Oak.

I actually really enjoyed my Ukulele two weeks ago. I think the bar had been so low that I went in expecting a drain pour and was presently surprised. The heat (I enjoy hot hot) was decent, not over the top but didn't build. It was hot out the gates and remained about a 6. If you have ever traveled to Hawaii and had all the different Guava/liliquioi/etc cans of nectar/juices it had a distinct link to those flavors. Over all, a bit sweet (so is the juice) and moderate enjoyable heat.

That said, I split it with my brother & am still glad I only had one.

When considering ingredients on the spectrum from "obvious Huna Knockoff" to "super unique blend featuring unusual adjuncts not normally used in beer", I will take the Huna knockoff. Any combination of the base beers could probably work just fine, so long as BT is in the mix.

Seems like some of the more unique blends that show well at the sessions do not necessarily translate to large scale production, and the obvious standbys (vanilla, cocoa beans, coconut, cinnamon) are obvious for a good reason.

I would rather see an experimental Terreux sour blend and a no-brainier Bruery (non-sour) blend.

As long as it's not modeled after a cocktail we're good.

    BT+Mash+coconut.

Or just Mash + coconut. It's the best beer they've done in the last two years, so maybe it's too blindingly obvious as a blending competition choice.

I'll make it even easier. 100% BT + tons of vanilla beans or (even more) coconut. I'd be happy with either. Or 50/50 with Mash. Ideally I'd love to see a beer like s.h.i.t with vanilla. But Bruery hates us and will never do something that simple and what everyone else is doing.

    I'm totally using figs!!

This rarely gets submitted, but I always make a solo batch of that while I'm there....and there is the one guy who always makes batches of key lime pie BT.

Had a Ukulele as well tonight... well, more like endured through it. Holy fuck, first bottle I opened of it and it was not easy to drink. Shared it with a few folks and all had a similar confused reaction to it.

Good thing I only bought one bottle of it.

It would have to be done just right, but I'd be down for White Chocolate Mint.

If your talking about the blending tourney they don't have white chocolate.

And on a side note, mint is super hard to work with. We tried to make a mojito inspired blend and we kept putting in less and less mint and there was still too much. We stopped at just one leaf and it was still way to much.

17 Mint Chocolate Stout from Perennial is the only mint beer I've enjoyed, the rest taste like toothpaste... so it is possible, just not common.

I thought the Stone / Iron Fist / Ken Schmidt Mint Chocolate Imperial Stout collaboration was pretty good.
