    The beer looks great,

But like others, I'm trying figure out what "an invitation does not guarantee you a spot" means?

    My guesses are:
    • They've significantly reduced the size of HS, so all existing members won't fit
    • Upgrade invites are going out at the same time so people upgrading will be competing with existing HS members, rather then the usual window for existing members to re-up first.
    • Limited slots in the new options, so for example, Bruery Only, might sell out ( I'm thinking this is it )
    • They're lawyers made them put it in, in case the roll out doesn't go as planned.

This is what I’m hoping... given all of the drama recently, I hope this is them covering their asses (***not directed at any particular staff member***) rather than an actual scarcity of memberships. I don’t expect them to admit this, but I hope that we’ll all be able to get in.

Let just say I’ll be up at 10am with my finger on F5... because I honestly think a membership at The Bruery is worth it!!!

And sorry Captain America... despite our disagreements, I still plan to re-up with The Avengers!!!

I'm betting it's never been guaranteed and now they're just pointing it out. They prob send out X amount of HS invites and only expect XX% to enroll.

I think John is onto something here.

While bullet #2 is definitely not a thing- the upgraders can't purchase until 9/5, keeping with the 24 hour exclusivity, if I were a betting man, the truth would be in bullets 3 and 4. They assume there will be some spread amongst the three options, but if every current Hoarder tried to pick the same option, perhaps they'd run out of <insert low yield beer here in that category>.

Also, like the airlines and @zeile33 said I suspect they work in some factor of people that don't renew (or accept their first invite). While one option would be to roll out the program in waves, not sure how feasible that is from the business side. But, for that, they'd invite all returning hoarders, then, say a week later, invite the X that made their algorithm number from Reserve, where X equals remaining reserve slots. Give those folks a week, repeat with Y, etc, until the slots are full. But, you'd be talking a significant delay in them receiving the capital.

But, so long as there's a spot left for me come Thursday morning, I'm a happy camper.

Pretty much thought I wouldn't renew.... but dang I might have to go Bruery only as opposed to mixed.

Likely not pineapple since I would imagine that would lend some form of sour/tart profile and this appears to be on the Bruery and not Terreux column.

Also, anyone see that Bruery Napa collab! I'm guessing this is Patrick's new project?

Didn't get an upgrade invite.......... Wasn't too highly thinking I would but one can hope. I suggest everyone take their time renewing and we can all wait and see what happens? How bad could that possibly turn out?

No...from the beginning, first right of refusal in the next year's membership was a listed perk. That language disappeared somewhat quietly a few years ago, but I haven't heard of anyone not being offered a renewal (not counting this thread).

In 2018, for example, the invite still guaranteed you a spot during the renewal month. Here's language from their emails two years ago:

"Tomorrow, your invitation-only opportunity to join our Hoarders Society in 2018 begins. From September 1 through September 30, you'll be able to claim the honor and guarantee that you get your hands on our finest, most limited releases and experiences by purchasing a membership via your Allocations on TheBrueryStore.com."

"We're holding a place for you to join our Hoarders Society in 2018, but the window is closing! At the end of this week, your opportunity to join Hoarders Society 2018 will disappear. We wanted to reach out to you, as it looked like you still had yet to take advantage of this opportunity."

Last year there was no explicit mention of whether your spot was guaranteed for the full renewal period.

Obviously if fills up in 10 minutes and some long-time members miss out, that is shitty. If it takes a few days to fill up, fair game. At least they are being up front about it either way, I guess, but it's still an erosion of this particular aspect of the membership.

Yeah, I can't imagine it being much of an issue. Personally, if I even got a HS invite I probably wouldn't bump it. Bruery stuff is damn expensive as it is.

I’m guessing this get screwed up somehow, followed by the CEO posting messages here how they are trying to fix it for next year. The list does look good for next year.

    True, but.....

Excluding the procrastinators that let the time window run out and complain that no one reminded them. I do not know or know of a single member in RS or HS that got an initiation in the past, tried to renew within the time window and was denied.

Nor do I recall the disclaimer about an invitation does not guarantee a spot.

So I think there is a distinction between, it was never guaranteed, but never stated because it has never happened, verses, we better start warning people. Sounds like anticipation, that it is going to start happening.

One surprise to me, is some of those beers that are not hoarder exclusive. RS list for next year is a big bump from this year!! Glad for them.

With us buying a bunch of BT reserve & Maple BT , RS may only have an allotment of 1PP.

Perhaps I will be eating my hat in five days, but I am willing to bet that HS memberships never sell out, but coincidentally sell a lot better on day 1 than in past years.

Now I REALLY want HS to sell out!
