I went to where the drop off location was, they had banners and a sign. There was a lady there with 2 full bags of patches.

That was a fucking fun party. 90+ pours and didn’t die. Had everything I wanted to, and then some. Superstition made for a great palate cleanser, lol. Skipped food but liked that I could have eaten at anytime without any real wait (from what I observed). Got to see many familiar faces again. No real complaints. Missed fancy ‘hoarders exclusives’, but really enjoyed the more open layout. Perfect 5 out of 7.

How do you even fit in 90 pours within the time frame? Are you sure you aren’t dead?

I left an hour early to go get some poke too...
Pretty solid teamwork though. Girlfriend works alongside to get pours so it takes no time to tick an entire booth lol.

Had my two other invitees helping get pours for a while as well but they tapped out about 40 pours in haha.

So, I'm surprised they've never done an eisbock treatment of BT.

    I'd buy lots of those.

I imagine they have never done it because that would be the end of like half their beer club.

Interesting. How are you normally brewing yours? I got the bag of Mexico El Jaguar beans aged in barrels that had BT in it. Hard to do a huge comparison without having tried some of the same beans that weren't aged but, I'm curious if it's less present because of the BT aging in there first rather than aging after racking the whiskey?

I don't think this bag is too overwhelming where there's a need to blend it with something else. Still makes great coffee just, not the out of body experience I was half expecting.

I mean, I'd be surprised if there wasn't. Each year is a bit different, but they always do one.

They did one for Terreux, so would also seen strange to skip on Bruery.

Contrary to (I guess) popular belief, I had a pretty great time as well. The guest lineup was the best I've seen since I've been attending, the food situation was way better than last year, and the layout was the best I've seen it. I also loved the little cute plastic cup they gave at the beginning because it felt like a tasting glass, but no chance of it breaking (didn't hear any glass shatter this year, LOL!)... They nailed this party!

My complaint about Black Tuesday wasn't intended to "stir the pot" so I apologize if that was how it came off. For me, one of my favorite parts of the Anniversary Party has always been the one-offs they do of BT (Oreo BT anyone?), so I kinda missed that... Plus Black Tuesday is, arguably, one of the Bruery's most iconic beers (and was what got me into the societies in the first place). Maybe the Bruery did it on purpose to focus on other beers, or to allow guest breweries to shine a little more... maybe they are trying to shift focus to their other pastry stouts (I LOVE the Bakery series!) or are trying to get some of their other stuff to shine, but considering that some of their best BT one-offs have come from the Anni Party, I missed it... that's all. What they did have was awesome (Candy Cap Anni, Cookieversary, That Mocha Almond was legendary, and of course The Crumbfather!!!) so maybe (likely) my complaint of lack-of-BT came off as a spoiled child that got a Ferrari for this birthday, but is upset that it doesn't have a sunroof... not how I meant for it to come off, but it happens... so sorry about that :slight_frown: I'll behave now.

I enjoyed myself and would definitely go again!

It was probably earlier in this thread, but I feel like I saw somewhere recently that they're trying to lean less heavily on BT because it's not as accessible as "lower" ABV offerings... like a "sessionble" beer like SHIT for example

But seriously, they clearly want to grow and expand market, and it makes sense that BT isn't going to lead that charge (it can remain a nice little perk for members). My guess is that they wanted to give Anniversary Party folks a first look at the types of beers they think might garner broad interest in newer markets.

If i remember correctly, we aren't even getting BT as part of our RS included beers either, right?

Amped up Chocolate Rain and Cherry Chocolate Rain should count as BT variants. We haven't gotten regular BT as included bottle in a few years.

We got them. What you were supposed to do was drive past the street you turn right on to the Phoenix Club main (and only) entrance. A about a hundred yards later, there were a couple of girls standing with the patches and a small sign. Where they were positioned was a gate (which is never open- I know, my wife and I walk that river trail) where you could get the patch and walk down the stairs to the festival entrance. I mean, we got it wrong too. I just pursued it further because I didn't need to take a ride share there.

We managed to not get drunk so we walked home (about 20 minutes), right through the driving range lot into the Coves trail and out at the halfway point. Felt pretty good after the fest. With the great weather, this was probably or most enjoyable Anniversary party ever.

Yeah, I'm curious to see where the price point lands - if they're priced to move (average of original $30 retail per) or if there's a premium.

I'm 'meh' on the American Oak, but I haven't tried the Port one, so maybe that's a wash:wink:
