We’re getting 2 bottles of Chocolate Reign on Thursday which is very similar. Double barreled in the same way (aged for over a year in barrels then racked to new barrels for another) but with cacao and vanilla added.

Kind of surprised for that price point that 2 bottles will still be included in the membership, but happy that they are.

Reached that moment where I halfway regret joining the Terreux society, knowing that if I want any Chocolate Reign it’s going to cost me $42.50 plus tax (including my discount).

I just revisited the list of included beers for HS and says we only get 1 bottle of Chocolate Reign.

$42.50 doesn’t sound that bad considering regular chocolate rain is $40.

Not dis'ing HS. You guys paid your dues. Still sore about RS B Only getting the short end of that stick.

Anybody know what’s included this month for RS Bruery only? Is it Chocolate Reign x2, Mash & FT x2, and SHIT w/ S’mores x1?

B Only RS is supposed to get two bottles of "Decadent variants of SHIT". If S'mores is the only variant planned for the rest of the year. We should get two bottles. But with "variants" being plural in the press release, I'm not sure.

It’s weird that rs gets shit variants in Aug, and hoarders gets shit variants in Nov, wonder if we’ll be getting something different?

There are actually no other SHIT variants listed on the release calendar for RS so I’m guessing it’s 2x S’mores.

Jon is right. There is a "SHIT variant" listed for HS in Nov. There is no further description like S'mores. I have to assume that it will be HS only. But, with three different lists for just RS, it is possible it didn't make it on the list for RS B Only in November.

At the same time it is weird that HS isn't getting any S'mores included. So, I have no idea what to expect.

Hey, sorry for any confusion, it looks like there was an oversight on the tentative release calendar. So Happens It's Tuesday S'mores is the included variant for both Hoarders and Reserve Society members. Included bottle orders will be created tomorrow, with additional bottles and 16oz cans available for purchase along with August allocations.

    Cheers,
    Conner

All this discussion on HS vs. RS had me thinking. I made a table to compare the two. Can't paste it to share, but when you look at the two side-by-side, I noticed a few things (comments alongside)

    HS Exclusives:
2 Thee Cobbler - Without having side by side with American Anthem, I wouldn't really be more satisfied with Thee Cobbler. I've made this argument before that HS beers are often similar in nature to RS or distributed beers and really lack that special distinguished beer I am hoping for as a HS member.
2 More room for More - Please no more room for anything... this is getting old. They keep trying to sell this in archive sales which tells me it's not a big seller. So, what do they do? Give 2 of the 2019 version to the HS with the membership!
1 Cordial BBLS - not exciting and new. This was on tap a few times I think. Good, but did not blow me away vs some of the other BBLS
2 Mousseux Naturel - Anyone had this next to L'Orange? Would this HS bottle be significantly different? Not sure if it's even the same beer, so shame on me.

Chocolate Reign: It was said earlier that RS gets 2 bottles with the membership and HS gets 1. First time I can recall RS getting a $50 retail bottle, let alone 2 of them! I feel this was a miss on Bruery's part.

Brycescotti: Has no one mentioned that RS gets a bottle of this and HS does not. BIG miss IMHO. First, Bryce is an awesome dude. Haven't seen him in the TR lately, so not sure if he still works there. His coffee roasting skills are on point and this beer was fantastic when I had it.

So, aside from the lackluster HS exclusive beers, I only see the highly touted beer from this year's that I do not think came out yet. Just please....DON'T BE A SOUR. I hope it wasn't supposed to be BT Grand Reserve that was used to make up for the 2018 bonus-beergate issue. Just noting that this bottle was not noted as a HS exclusive.

I'll likely always be a Bruery supporter, but if they truly want to make the Societies successful, they need to get back to the drawing board and start involving the entire organization. Party-planning, brewery operations, membership outreach, whoever the new CEO is, etc. It would be nice to learn more about what The Bruery is about these days. If the societies are not successful, then the organization and beers will spiral downward and eventually lose customers and growth.

I think the"highly touted" re-release was Pie Happy.

Also, you left out the Small Batch boxes... Though I would concede they have been average so far compared to last year's.

To your point about priorities, it would be interesting to know what percentage of members are local. In the past I'm sure it was very high, but with increased distribution and an eye for growth, it could be that local society members are in the minority now.

I am not local, so events and such don't sway my value assessment (though I'm jealous of those who get to enjoy). Included bottles for me are the price of admission to buy the stuff I want at a discount. So, if I hypothetically represent the target market now, that could inform the direction things are headed.

It's almost like they need a new tier for you local folks, where it's more about experience and not about exclusivity of packaged releases (perhaps exclusivity of pilot brews on tap).

    This month's allocations, wow.

    So:
    - Chocolate Reign: this is like BT reserve, but with the CR treatment? Wow.
    - Vermont Sticky Maple: barrel-aged stout with maple...for only $10? Is this the Bakery base?
    - SHiT S'Mores sounds amazing

I had it last year in the tasting room and liked it enough to get fills for my fantasy football draft and my league mates were glad I did. From what I remember, fudgy, medium bodied, marshmallow definitely hit. I think last year's was TR only, so hoping they're able to hit all the same notes while scaling up the production for bottles.

Thee Cobbler is a stout, American Anthem is a Strong Ale. I feel like that's significantly different.

For Chocolate Reign, HS gets 1 included but there's 4 more in allocations if we really need it. As long as HS included + allocations is greater than RS, I feel that's fair. HS has 27 bottles included, Bruery has to balance it a bit, they can't all be $40-50 bottles. Also HS still have 1 Thomas Rutherford included and those always have a stupid high price if included sticker price was a concern. I think BT Grand Reserve in Grape Brandy barrels is supposed to be the big HS exclusive this year, difference from the previous BT Grand Reserve is the barrel.
