Looking forward to it! I have some leftovers from last week’s happy hour, so I’ll be enjoying those.

Hot damn. Red Wine Etain is drinking fantastic. When it first came out I thought the flavor balance was a little weird, but it's all mellowed and balanced now.

I’m another who wishes Bruesicles were available right now. I was always one who’d avoid the crazy asking prices for the heavily fruited sours because I could just spend my money locally on Bruesicles. It’s been almost 4 months since the last release though. At the same time, I was pretty burned out on Mango Fire, Pina Colada and DFG so maybe the long break did me well.

    Whoops!

Tried making fun of those complaining about Modern Times Theory (blaming them for a botched sale, and opening a poll asking if Theory should go away) by making a similar poll about Hoarders.

Didn’t realize that many might not get the joke and think that I was trying to stir the pot... made a clarification on that post, and I’ll make one here too. HELL NO HOARDERS SHOULDNT GO AWAY!

Sincere apologies to anyone on staff, in the societies or elsewhere who were confused/offended/hurt by my awful attempt at a joke.

Totally agree. I swung by today, and forgot to ask why the hell aren't they cranking out bruesicles???

It's clearly a hot style, and almost no one is offering it in the area.

Attention bruery. Any chance you'll pump out Mango charms and sweet bruesicles (not Mango fire *****) soon?

On a side note, 3 year ipa is actually pretty good. Wish their ipas would taste this good as an average. (not just once a year).

Just opened a Chronology 24 Porter is drinking great, smooth and full of flavor. My question has anyone else had this beer recently along with a 2017-2018 Black Tuesday? If you’ve had these two beers, please weigh in on which you preferred . Trying to make a decision on purchases.

Very different in flavor intensity and type, one of each maybe? I just had Chronology 24 over the weekend and while very smooth and tasty I got the feeling the base beer wasn't meant to stand up to 2 years of bal-aging. 2017-2018 Black Tuesday has more flavor intensity and that typical Black Tuesday dark fruit flavor that Chronology 24 doesn't. Get both:sunglasses:

I would have to agree about the base not really holding up, that said I think the 18 is the sweet spot of barrel and base. I bought a few because I know it'll start crashing soon and I want to enjoy it as much as possible.

Enjoying a Vindictive II. Super smooth and mellow. Carbonation has mellowed a little so it's a little less spritzy and starting to approach the "Rutherford" category.

I think I still dig the carbonation vs being served still... which is the first time I considered "Still Vindictive" might be literally non-carbonated as opposed to joking that the series took a couple years off... Guess we'll see.

Anyway yeah, Vin II is super good right now.

Opened my last Vindictive II last Friday, very mellow indeed. Far less tannin than l remember and color has gotten lighter. Hoping for more of these hybrids in the future.

Well, I think I could drink nothing but Joyride and Sticky Chunk for the rest of my life.
But for those who are not mint averse, I would also recommend the Grasshopper stout. Mint is much subdued compared to Share This and balances with the chocolate base well. Best mint chocolate stout I’ve had to date.

Opened a 2014 Mash and I am pleasantly surprised. It's super mellow and doesn't have even a hint of the oxidation I was expecting. Very tasty.

Just did a side-by-side of Soie and Soie Reserve... both are fantastic, but there is a clear winner between the two... which of them was your favorite?

Maybe delayed and coming next month? Looks like Glenwort got moved up from July instead.

Also, guess the Offshoot West Coast must be a mid-month release?

Better buy that quickly! After all of the bitching I’ve made about a West Coast IPA, I plan to buy a ton of it. I’m so excited that Offshoot is finally coming to the West Coast!

Want some HS opinion on the new Hoarders Box #2. I felt bad that I was a little critical of the last box, but this one feels much the same for me. Little interest in the box. I'm worried that if people are not buying the boxes, then they will stop making them. I like the concept, but this month's beers are mostly fruited again. How is it there are no anniversary variants? Anyone else have any opinions on this box?

    London Fog - 13.5% ABV
A bourbon barrel-aged ale created to mimic the refreshing, decadent flavors of Earl Grey milk tea, this Hoarders delight opens up on the nose with herbal notes and hints of vanilla and citrus. The palate is treated to a big, viscous body with notes of bourbon, vanilla, and lemon zest.

Saison Du Pear - 6.7% ABV
This foeder-aged saison took on a second life in Gin barrels where it was gracefully re-fermented with juicy pears. Funky, floral, and just a hint of sweet — we highly suggest pearing...err pairing with warm weather, zoom calls, and socially distanced weekends.

Blood and Sand - 14.3% ABV
An ode to the classic cocktail, this double barrel-aged ale saw a second racking into scotch barrels. Treated with cherries, blood orange, and bitters, it hits all the warming, classic flavors of a Blood and Sand.

    Saisy - 6.2% ABV
This funk-forward saison was hand-crafted just for our Hoarders. Choice barrels of saison were treated with spearmint in tribute to the classic flavors of Saison Rue, with white pepper added for a brand new twist that accentuates the peppery notes found in saisons. Cheers!

    Antojitos Licuados - 15% ABV
The Banana Goat Boys took a trip down south and fell in love with the banana smoothies known as licuados. This bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout is rich and creamy, just like the smoothie, while the palate is pleased with enticing notes of banana, vanilla, oak, and just a hint of cinnamon.

    Syrah Smile - 5.5% ABV
Why do we do beer-wine hybrids? Because you can't put chocolate in everything. This sour Saison was aged in oak barrels with Syrah grapes and topped off with hibiscus and lime. The result truly blurs the lines between wine and beer and is suitable only for a Hoarder.

I agree with everything you said, to the word. If you don’t particularly like sours, you are already banking on 3 bottles, and if you don’t love fruited stuff, then it’s really going to miss the mark. Granted, some people love sours and fruited stuff; I am just not one of them.

If they ever move to separate Bruery or Terreux Hoarders boxes, that would be ideal. However, I have no idea how feasible or cost effective that approach would be. After they changed to a Bruery-only Hoarders membership, I am far happier with the value of my included bottles. Doing the same with the Hoarders boxes would just be icing on the cake.
