Why is '20 Train to Beersel more than '19TtB ($23 vs $21) ? Not really complaining but that's not the usual system.

Soie Reserve is great! On the fence about the price point, but definitely a very strong entry in the Anniversary library. Impressed with how mellow and smooth it is relative to BT Reserve... Probably because Madeira is less boozy than a second bourbon barrel?

I would describe the Madeira as less pronounced than Sucre Madeira, but still very flavorful and really well balanced/complimentary of the other flavors.

Sooooo....are there any DC Hoarders members out there that would be willing to order this lowly Reserve Society member a bottle of Onus On Us? Loved both Spontanaheims and would love a shot at Onus.

It sure is, I can't believe it. 4 posts in over a week. Has it ever been like this?
I have been a Hoarder for several years and I think this year has been the best. I pick up my beers in DC, and the workers, Josh and everyone else do a great job.

Yeah, for whatever reason, this forum has been super quiet this year.

Yeah that comment kinda needs some follow up haha. I went to Terreux a few weeks ago and saw mostly regular staff plus one brand new person. Picked up at main Bruery multiple times over the last 3-4 months and it was always regulars, no one new... what are you getting at?

in terms of customer satisfaction, that’s probably a good thing. The only time it blows up in here is when someone is unhappy about something.

Has been an awesome year for sure!

I agree wholeheartedly with this... they've done a really good job with the beers this year, and the whole process has been so smooth. I wish there was a little more engagement between them and this forum, like there used to be, but that's just being knitpicky.

I haven't had a chance to visit either TR since all of this COVID stuff happened... but I do know that my favorite guy on staff was let go about a month ago, which really bummed me out to hear. He was the reason why I ended up in Hoarders, and have been as die-hard about the Bruery as I've been. The good news is that another Brewery, who happens to be opening a taphouse nearby, hired him, so I feel that it's ultimately The Bruery's loss*, and Their gain.

*That being said, I don't think there was any bad blood or hard feelings in the process, and times just suck right now, so they had to do what they had to do, and that's completely understandable. Thankfully there are a TON of other staff members at The Bruery that I absolutely love, AND the place my buddy got hired at is for a Brewery that is really up-and-coming on my list of favorites, so I'll still get to bug him plenty. The Bruery won't be the same without him, but both parties will be perfectly fine, so no stress there.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the "churn" happening in staffing is COVID-related... even if furloughs and layoffs were just temporary, many people can't wait that long and likely looked for jobs elsewhere. It sucks, but hopefully when the dust settles, everyone ends up being okay.

In other news, how about that Escape!?!? It's exactly my kind of IPA! I could see it having a permanent place in my fridge.

Has anyone had a chance to try this month's beers (especially YAFI 2.0)... how are they!?!?

Definitely need some more controversy in here!

I got my beer delivery yesterday. Haven't had a chance to open the new can releases or Escape yet.

I did open a Sweet Liberty and a You Asked For It last night.

Sweet Lib was pretty solid with a juicy pineapple taste up front and smoothed out coconut back

You Asked For It - the vanilla taste it pretty delicious. In comparison to FO you can definitely tell it's a few % stronger but that excites me to open another one in a couple months. And that always gives me the dilemma of how many to order.

I really want to open the Glenwort to see how I feel about it and whether to order more or not, but I gotta make sure I'm ready to manhandle that thing. Maybe tonight haha

Don't have any real basis for comparison other than memory, but I definitely enjoyed this year's YAFI more than before. Seems more balanced and smooth. Definitely ordered more bottles.

As for Soie Reserve, the Madeira character is clear and present, but the bourbon character that I like about the anny beers is less distinct. Not really my thing, but well done, I suppose.

Anyone wanna talk about how disappointing the 4 taster glasses are? Embarrassing after dropping 700 for a membership, they look like they were left over from an event.

I'd also like to see a pic. I can't travel from San Diego county to pick them up at the moment, due to work restrictions (can't leave the county or have to self-quarantine).

Also wondering if the insulated bags are a complete no-go this year, due to covid-related manufacturing issues?
