1, 2, or 3 days....I just had a glass and it was great! I cannot remember if they discussed this during the Virtual HH, but I guess no maple was added. Just the barrel. I have to say that I was really impressed. You might think BT + Maple = overly sweet. Not the case here. In fact, I feel like it just gave such a rich and velvety profile and mouthfeel to it. I do not regret maxing out. If the up the allocation, I will have to hesitate because I have enough BT + variants to put an entire stable of horses into a coma. I can understand Andrew Bell's comment that this was worthy of the wax.

    Thanks for this.

I have to admit I am growing tired of overly sweet beers. I didn't realize BT Maple was just a barrel treatment. Now I'm much more excited about trying it.

I'm not aware of any maple added, but 2/3 of it was fed maple syrup to bump the SG prior to fermentation. As best as I understand it, 1/3 was regular BT racked in maple syrup (bourbon) barrels, 1/3 was BT fed maple syrup prior to fermentation and racked in regular bourbon barrels, 1/3 was BT fed maple syrup prior to fermentation and racked in maple syrup (bourbon) barrels.

Clearly the yeast converts the maple syrup to alcohol. I just don't know if there is any maple "flavor" left after fermentation. Andrew mentioned using left over maple syrup to feed other BT projects in the past. I don't think he mentioned which ones.

Just noticed the interesting price points for the current group of canned stout. Vermont Sticky Maple is the cheapest, despite being barrel aged. Is the cost of adjuncts that high that Three's Cocompany, Pain Perdu and Sweet Liberty cost more to make than a BBA stout? Haven't had Perdu yet, but I'd take Sticky Maple over the other 2 any day.

Honestly, price points have made little sense to me ever since they made those huge price hikes in the tasting rooms in 2017. I sometimes wonder if someone just pulls a number out of a hat for G/Crowler fills and charges that.

It's a good question. I'm assuming the number of adjuncts plays into it along with the cost of each adjunct and how tedious it is to prepare. So like dumping bottles of syrup in the fermentor is easier than preparing the coconut maybe?

Also, I thought last year Sticky was a blend of barrel and non-barrel, which would dilute the price vs full barrel. And, big difference if it's in barrel for a month vs a year I assume.

Or maybe they just take a stab at what they think the market will bear?

I was in the RS from 2010 to 2016 and left because of this very reason. Not only did I have a ton of large format 15%+ abv bottles piled up, all my friends were in the RS, too, so bringing RS beers to bottle shares was frowned upon. It took me years of opening bottles, drinking 5-10 oz and dumping the rest, giving bottles away or trading them (often for pennies on the dollar), but I finally cleared my backlog this month. For the first time since 2010, and to the envy of my friends, I now have zero Bruery bottles in my cellar.

When I was a member, my friends and I always said in the member surveys that we wished they'd go to the 375ml format, and it's kind of surprising that all these years later, people are still having the same issues my friends and I did.

Anyway, now that my RS cupboard is bare, if I see one of you at a share and you're popping a bottle, I'll be happy to take a couple ounces

So I hesitated on renewing and now I have to go through a waitlist until Oct 1st, but I have MT League renewal then too and don’t really want to drop $700+ on beer memberships in a month.

Why don't you put aside the $ you were going to use on the Bruery renewal this month until October? Then you are just time shifting the money spend.

It’s not so much that I can’t do that, but once 1st of the month comes, beer falls even further down the financial priority list. It’s really only my fault for hesitating. But thanks to Daniel, it looks like I’ll be back for yet another year.

    Why wasn't it called

    Greyy Monday /// Grayy Monday
    or
    Greytest Monday /// Graytest Monday?

It would have been easier to part with $50 in that case :sunglasses:

I'm not sure what the base was, but it definitely wasn't Black Tuesday. It looked more like the Anniversary or a wheatwine base from what I remember at the anniversary party a couple years ago. It was more of a cloudy, copper color.

There are two BT projects for October. The first is a BT box just like last year. Twelve 375ml bottles with four variants (three bottles each). One of which is the "Love at Midnight" announced a few days ago. If I had to take a guess, "Sweet Magnolias" is the second one.

We will also have access to a virtual BT Party box. I think it was six 10oz. cans with three variants (two cans each). This is to coincide with the BT party.

Daniel talked a little about it in the last virtual HH.
