Can we talk about buying beer online? Im looking to get some bottles of Cantillon and was wondering what your experiences were from the Belgian beer retailers.

Had success with Etre Gourmet, Online Beer Shop
Cantillon prices seemed reasonable here. Order took 8 days, good communication, and excellent packing of the bottles. They also run monthly sales, which happens to include the Cantillon Gueuze (European version)

I used Etre Gourmet once. Aside from the extreme prices, which just comes with the territory, the experience was a pleasant one. The ordering process was quick and painless. They took a week or two to finally ship my box, but once they did, it arrived within days. I've heard horror stories of beers being caught in customs for a month or more, but mine went from departure to arrival in less than a week.

All in all, if it weren't for the expense, I'd do it again.

I have yet to find an online store, that specializes in Belgians, that charges less than ETRE Gourmet. If you know of one, let me know. My 10 75 cl (750ml) bottle order cost 75 Euros to ship, which is a little under $100.

I agree. My statement was about overseas orders in general.

They're all fine, pack relatively well, and all end up more or less in the same price range. Some a bit more than others, but you're dropping $300 +/- on an order to justify shipping so a few bucks here or there shouldn't matter too much compared to what they have in stock.

Do realize that you can also be assessed duty and handling fees by customs, which can be significant (particularly with UPS) and you definitely run a non-zero risk of having your box confiscated. It seems like 9 out of 10 orders go smoothly, but people certainly do get burned.
