Looking for info on this one; 1) How many cases produced? 2) How many were 'onsite consumption' only? 3) (if onsite only) How many realistically made it off-site? 4) What was the bottle price? Info appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.
I don't know 1 (although I believe it was a significantly smaller batch), but it's definitely on-site only and the percentage leaving is probably similar to previous Cable Cars. The bottle price was $40, I believe, although it somehow sold out in SF in like a week so I never got any. My guess is that getting one of these will be approximately as difficult as getting an older Cable Car.
I believe all bottles were/are onsite consumption only. $40 at Toronado SD is what it cost me. I'm sure some insiders have been able to get some offsite. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend trying this! I think Cable Car used to be able to be brought off site from the SF Toronado back in the days.
Thanks guys. I'm gonna go ahead and cancel my plans to attempt to trade for this one... Sadly I'm not some lawyer or something with ridiculous amounts of dispensable income.
From what I've heard, very few have found their way off-premises....like you could probably count them on one hand.
1) Lost Abbey had 5 cases for sale. No hard figures on either Toronado, but based on precedent I'd guess no more than 20 cases each? Two wine barrels would yield at maximum 48 cases, and I presume some bottles were held back by Lost Abbey. 2) All of them were on-site consumption only. 2009 was the last year SF sold 'to-go'. 3) I could count them on one hand. 4) $40 at Toronado(s). $50 at Lost Abbey including a matching glass. EDIT: They were also violently explosive gushers - I'd be extremely nervous shipping one.
don't quote me, but if i'd guess san diego toro got around 5 cases each shipment in 2 shipments. very few of them have left the bar they're really quite popular. being a regular at toro sd, i've probably seen at least 1-2 bottles purchased per day. they've raised the price to $55 / bottle btw. they've been very careful about these bottles, as they've been known to gush (sometimes badly) if opened warm or shaken a bit. they store them in a colder fridge for onsite consumption. the last 6 or so bottles i've had did not gush, but they're also a lot smarter about keeping them in the colder fridge now. as far as i know, toro sf has maybe a few cases left? but kriek is not officially on the bottle list after of feb, so good luck ordering it. i assume they're holding back for their 25th anniv.
if it's not on the bottle list, they're out as far as customers go. if you're friends with david keene i'm sure getting a bottle to drink on site won't be that hard. like i said though, don't quote me on it. maybe they really are out. i doubt they are though.
It was on the bottle list sadly...I did go the week before SF Beer Week so perhaps they were holding some back. Who knows!
Seem like this year CCK is much more difficult to get comparing to CC 2010. I saw maybe only three or four bottles floating around.
