Can any other brewery, Belgian or not, top these 5 from Unibroue?

I just stopped by a favorite bottle shop and got some of my favs and realized 3 of them were La Fin du Monde, Don de Dieu and Trois Pistoles. That got me thinking that with those 3 and Maudite and La Terrible, I don't know of another brewery that has 5 Belgian or Belgian style offerings of that quality, depth, availability and affordability. Does anyone else know of one because, if you do, I'd like to try them and compare.

Style for style, or 5 in general?

If the latter I'd say St. Bernardus- 6,8,12,Tripel, Wit. Not that bad, price-wise, either.

For quality, depth, and availability, Allagash for sure. A lot more depth, actually.

However, Allagash is more expensive than Unibroue, so it doesn't match on affordability.

I came here to say St. Bernardus as well. 6, 8, and 12 are all delicious, the Christmas Ale is out of this world, and I've heard great things about the Tripel, though I haven't tried it.

Unibroue is solid but I cannot tell you the last time I picked up anything from them, they do not do it for me. I would personally take Ommegangs standard line up over Unibroue.

Oh, and honestly, I'd probably have to throw in Ommegang (Abbey, 3 Phils, Hennepin, Witte, and take your pick of their specialities) as well, to me, even better than Unibroue (though there's nothing wrong with the latter!)

Just 5 in general. Thanks for the suggestion

In terms of quality, Ommegang is the only North American Brewery comparable to Unibroue in terms of the Belgian style. They don't offer the same variety/strengths that Unibroue does, but their connection to Duvel and commitment to tradition sets them apart from the bulk of other brewers

Enjoy! FWIW- you can get the Abt 12 in four-packs for around $18-19, which is beyond reasonable for a beer of that quality. If you haven't had the pleasure- get it!!!

Dieu de ciel but may get pricey. I travel to Canada and get cases of unibroue for <$50. I just make my own for <$20 a case though using Trappist/Abbaye ale yeast though.

Quality, Depth, Availability... Gulden Draak. Trappistes Rochefort. Price will get you though.
I do like the Trois Pistoles a LOT though... Pretty good Belgian for the price. My favorite beer that Unibroue makes.

I realize you're from NY and thus have a certain opinion....but Allagash isn't even comparable? How many awards for White alone, not to mention a complete lineup, having a coolship program and barrel program and all the rest?

Unibroue is probably my favorite brewery. Sure, they've got a couple beers I'm not fond of, but those five you mentioned are simply divine. St. Bernardus is up there as well. If Westy had 5, I'd put them in the equation as well.

That's a bold ass statement my friend... Every brew I have had from Funwerks is head and shoulders above anything I have had from Ommegang or Unibroue. Shit, deceit and saison by themselves garnered golds at gabf this year.

    Freakin' homer.

    I agree.

(though I do really like Ommegang so I guess I wouldn't say I enjoy Funkwerks head and shoulders above them, just that I prefer Funkwerks.)

Maybe its a freshness thing, maybe I'm a homer. Either way I LOVE funkwerks. Oh, and white. How did I forget white? Such a great wit.

Allagash and Ommegang are great breweries..... but I defy anyone to enjoy an Allagash Tripel or Hennepin more than a Unibroue La Fin du Monde. (disclaimer: i know hennipen is not a Tripel)
