Maybe this will put to rest all the talk on how people can taste "metal" in canned beer.
Like the Geto Boys once said,"Mind is playing tricks on you"......lol.

    Cheers All......

Seems like 83% for bottles in Budweiser would be a pretty significant statistical advantage in that test. Kind of wierd.

I was surprised Heinekin wasn't more strongly preferrenced to the cans. Must have been some fresh, not yet skunked green bottles.

i would have voted for "It doesnt f'ing matter, and this is a dumb survey. Furthermore, this topic that has been discussed at lengths in the past by individuals more qualified than those both administering and participating" but alas, I could not find that selection.

I used to be a can hater, but then I started running into some stellar canned beers like Ten Fidy and Heady and I've changed my mind.

Kegs are made from metal like cans, right?

This year halloween fell on a weekend...

I doubt it will put the debate to rest, but maybe its a small start.

Yes, they are both metal but the keg is steel and the can aluminum. I. like the survey indicates, find that I prefer beer in cans. It was a surprise to me. The BPA liner prevents any aluminum taste from infecting (yes, infecting) the beer. As beer is an unheated product, there is minimal issue with the BPA.

How many Independents will vote for plastic Solo cups? or Mason jars? or ceramic German beer steins, with pewter lids?

I don't know how people can stand the taste of canned beer after having the glass aged version. Cans can simply not add the character that proper glass aging imparts on a beer.

I have a particular fondness for the Italian glass commonly used by Polish breweries to impart a certain earthy crystalline quality to their porters. It really complements the dark fruit character.

After learning to truly understand and appreciate glass aging, cans seem about as tacky as boxed wine.

The commenters on that article are, unsurprisingly, fairly stupid for the most part.

None of the beer that was taste-tested for the article is something that you would ever age.

Both are great but the facts are that a can is less impervious to light and leaking pressure over time. I also believe there's less headspace in a can, which might factor into less oxidization when aging for long periods of time. The cans of SN Torpedo and Pale Ale have all seemed to tastes brighter and fresher to me than their bottled cousins, even if they were made around the same time.

If you drink from a glass, it shouldn't make a difference. If you drink straight from the can, it is entirely possible to get a metal taste since you are putting metal in your mouth.

Fair point. However, it is my opinion that it takes as little as one month in the package for the character to begin evolving.

The 1st beer that opened my eyes to canning was Sly Fox 113 IPA. Don't know why but I couldn't believe a can could preserve the characters of an IPA. Then Heady / Fidy / Sixpoint / etc. blew the doors off the canning game.

And don't forget slicing you lip on the sharp metal. But ignore this comment if you open your beer bottles by banging them on something hard.
