Just made a phonecall with cantillon
They will " probably " release fou foune half september / 3 th week of september
And there is 1 big change , last year there was a 6 bottle limit a person
This year FF will be limited to " 3 " bottles a person !
This is what they said on the phone

Interesting.. do you think they will have bottles 2 weeks later (have they lasted that long in the past)? I will be in Brussels then.. Also, what about other bottles like St. Lam? Thanks for the input.

Boo on that! We'll have to wait 2-3 years then when they double the production? Or will the amount of Fou Foune produced stay the same?

Didn't ask about st lam. , but i think there a 2 or 3 reasons why they only sell 3 a paerson

1 / it all depends on the apricots , if it was a good season then they get lots of apricots = more fou foune = 6 bottles a person

2 / if they do a 3 bottle limit = bigger stock = more people get FF = FF stays longer at the Brewery = more people come to cantillon = more people buy bottles ( not only FF because most people buy several other beers while they are there = good businessplan = very smart

3 / a 3 bottle limit might also be a reason so cantillon can export more to the US = less bottles for us :slight_frown:

Thats a good question , how many bottles will they have this year ??

Each year is different , it depends on how much they export to other country's , how many bottles they send out to shops, how many bottles they wanne sell at the brewery and how many bottles they wanne keep for there own cellar
Some years they had it for months , other years it was sold out after 3 to 4 weeks

Damn, I'll be in Brussels the first half of September. Think it's worth asking to buy some when I'm at Cantillon, or would that be rude?

they probably won't sell it to you. Otherwise what's the point of having a release day/week.

My guess is that they won't have any left by the end of September, but that won't stop me from going there anyway!

Well hopefully for the latecomers you'll have a better shot at some of the (few) shops and restaurants that may have it. (Discussed in past threads.)

I was at Cantillon about a month ago, an employee told me the bottle limit of 3 was introduce to keep haulers from getting too much bottles. They hate the fact the bottles are being sold for rediculous amounts of money. I understand this.

In Brussels from the 14th to the 17th of September. *Fingers crossed*

Honestly though, I'm not sure if Belgians/other European people feel the same way, but I expect my visit to Cantillon will exceed all expectations with or without Fou Foune. You can never go wrong with visiting a world-class brewery and even just sampling their staples. The same is often said for a visit to HF (not trying to compare the quality of these two breweries at all) and whether it's worth going based on the bottles available. Stoked for my upcoming visit!

Funny comparison to make being that you can only sit and have a beer at one of the two breweries.

Not the comparison I was making. I was referring to the myriad threads in the Northeast forum concerning whether or not it's worth making the trip to nowhere VT to go to HF. I'm going out of my way to stay in Brussels and visit Cantillon and I'm confident that I'll be very pleased with my visit with or without Fou Foune (ie bottles available). But yeah I'm definitely stoked that I can have a beer at the brewery!

They usually have some nice bottles for on site consumption, such as zwanze, 50n, older classic. Great place, have fun!
