I found a couple of threads on this in these forums but they were both old and I couldn't post in them for some reason.

Anyway, has anyone managed to get their hands on loons from the latest shipment? Keen to hear of some successes.

WA only got theirs in the last few days so I have been on a wild goose chase. I managed to land some LPF, Kriek and RdG. As I understand we also got some Gil, and Gueuze. We were also meant to get some Mamouche but it never arrived :slight_frown:

Pretty sure Australia has seen two shipments this year?? Earlier there was St Lam, Iris, RdG and Gueuze. Does this normally happen or did we get two shipments because of Zwanze being held in Aus?

Picked up a Gilloise with no issues but would have much rather gotten an LPF, that's probably my favourite of their entire range that I've tried.

As for your question, I can't really recall what waves it has come in.

I've not been following arrivals like I used to (mostly because I've got enough/tired of the hunt) but, from what I recall from some discussions here some time ago, there's a "usual" shipment that hits both shores some time from late July to late September. This would contain the core range and others like Lamv (we haven't had proper Lou Pepe/Fou/Vig shipments in a few years if my memory is decent).

Any other shipments throughout the year didn't really seem to follow a strict timeline (though there is often a second almost guaranteed landing of small stuff early-ish in the year).

I'd have been more help last year, but it looks like you've done well to snag a LPF! If you really want to hunt, you've got to follow all big and small name stores that have a history of allocation (all social media, friends in-city, build owner relations etc.) and you can't hesitate on non-core offerings.

    Thanks @Gasc0igne

Yeah I was pretty lucky in that I know one of the guys that works at one of the craft stores over here so as soon as I caught wind of the LPF shipment I hit him up to see if they were getting any. He was more than happy to put one aside for me.

Had a bottle of the RdG (got 2 of them) on the weekend and it was super fruity. Literally tasted like liquid raspberries. Such a stunning beer.

Also for anyone going to the Perth Craft Beer Fest this weekend, Mane Liquor will be selling Cantillon there. This will definitely include RdG but not LPF as far as I know.

Rose de Gambrinus is severely underrated also, it's easily one of their best beers too.

RdG is better than 95% of fruited Lambic on the market. Fresh it's stupidly insane.

RdG, St Lam, Gueuze and Kreik this time around.

Very limited with most stores getting one case of one or two of those. I think more the a result of more stores requesting distribution.

Heard some kegs are arriving too, not sure what though.

    Fou and possibly Lam

Not sure who got them though. Saw jester King copped a Fou so it seems a few of them got distributed globally.

Might be GCB in the kegs, FF would be great but haven't heard anything yet.

Very cool during the week to walk into a bottle shop that I hadn't been to before and to walk up to a shelf, and pick up a Gueuze off the shelf for the princely sum of $30.53. I passed on the Kreik that was also on the shelf as I 'm not too keen. No bottle limits signs on display anywhere. Reminds me of a good few years ago, that scenario :-)

Range sounds like one of the two variations we ever get nowadays

I still think AU distribution amount in general has dropped (agreed more stores opening/more requesting factor in) quite significantly in part due to the sizeable amount thrown to the Americans.

Still best suggestion: make/have friends with someone from the EU for personal shopping (or travel yourself!). Less good: pay online EU prices and international shipping with huge competition/hope for local shop and reserve/make friends...or pay stupid online Western prices with less competition!

Regardless, good to see things still floating around and little shops picking more up, like heygeebee said, how it used to be (and not even the proper good old days >6 years ago!). Luckily local "wilds" and the like are really starting to get there now.

Looks like a keg of Foufoune was tapped on the weekend at DTC in Perth

That was the one. Supposedly there's a keg of Lamvinus over on your coast too.

Anyone know what bottles made it over in the last shipment? Should be hitting the shelves soon.

Barnys is rosebery Sydney just got a whole bunch of Cantillon last week. But $50 for a 375ml bottle is a bit ridiculous. Bitter phew (bar in syd) had Zwanze day a couple weeks ago. They had like 10 Cantillon beers on tap, spewin i missed it.

First, never mention the B-word here.
Second, B-word don't count as they bring in stuff privately and gouge like nobody else.

DTC and Carlisle cellars here just bought in a heap of interesting stuff,
lots of sours and some other great stuff,
got a bottle of Bourbon Barrel Bible Belt, which was a bit much for me,
reminded me of omnipollo pecan barrel bull sit, chocolate smooth kind of feel. some nice barrel beers from Sori in Estonia too, they had their annual sour fest on the weekend,
which gave me reflux just reading about it

Barnys isnt anymore expensive than the other craft beer shops in sydney. 20% off all single beer purchases. Cheaper than the beer cartel.

Iris is $80, so if the permanent discount comes off, it is still $64, which is more expensive than I've ever seen a bottle of Cantillon elsewhere in the country (even Cutty cellars).

They've been running a discount of 20% off all singles (unless otherwise noted) for probably 3+ years.

It has surpassed the now defunct Cammeray Craft, $20 beer and burger deal, as the longest running special in Australian beer

it closed about 6-12 month ago, sadly. had a nice community surrounding it and the people who owned it had a legit passion for craft beer beyond any commercial interest.
