Carton Brewing (January 2017)

Picked up IDIPA last night in Westchester County ... A nice surprise ... thank you arrangement with Two Roads!

 

This is why I use Untappd and I enter notes with nearly every check in. It's a pain in the ass sometimes but it's really valuable to be able to see how you interpreted a beer on different occasions. You learn a bit about your palate that way and how you find certain flavors consistently across things. Like I always interpret the Trillium house profile as having honey qualities. Regardless of how you do it, I think having some kind of tasting journal is great if you're willing to put the time in.

I also had an AOE recently and found it to be more herbal/tea-like at this point. The hops have fallen way off as expected for a beer that's 9 months old but it still has some orange rind/pith over the malt. The booze is more prominent now than it was when fresh and was masked by the hops.

 

Noticed Carton had a special Dubviant for Eddie's Roadhouse last night. 077-10990 Chinook

Got a chance to try some of the coffee beers at Eddie's Roadhouse in Warwick. Man, that regular coffee is one delicious coffee beer. I love coffee in stouts and porters, but not so much in IPAs. This was somewhere right in the middle and smooth. The Caffe Corretto gave a Sambuca taste, but also gave it a boozier sensation I didn't like as much. The Cafe Churro had nice sweetness matched with the coffee. Reminded me of the sweetness I get from Pumking.
