Just curious what the "top end" or more popular cascade sours are and what they usually go for? I'd like to try and track some down.

I'd appreciate a post in here letting people know what it took to land a bottle of strawberry

I can confirm a Cognac BA Church on a Hill DIDN'T get it done to my surprise.

    relatively tangential comment:

strawberry is notoriously the hardest fruit flavor to get into beer (and, i presume, to keep in beer). i don't remember any particular reasons why, but you can always google it if you're interested.

in other words, you guys should be drinking those cascade strawberries ASAP. i don't know how successful they were imparting strawberry flavor, but if they pulled it off, it probably won't last too long.

I want to say one of the popular homebrewing books has a section on fruit beers and how much/what not to use.

just track down or mail order their regular, mail-order line-up. apricot and the vine are both outstanding IMHO.

Wow, maybe it's just too soon since the release and regulars haven't caught on yet (wishful thinking).

As someone who has regular access to Cascade and their bottle releases, I agree that the Apricot is the best of what is available in bottles. The best part is that they brew it in large quantities so it's easy to get ahold of. If you can order it online, great. If not, you shouldn't have trouble acquiring it in a trade for some locals.

FWIW, I know of two bottles of Cognac BA Church on a Hill headed to Portland right now, so it could just be that a good number of the traders in town already know they're going to tick that one. Or, just no one has seen your post. It has only been 48 hours since the release and a lot of the locals have been at PIB this weekend.

I'm not sure what it will take to land a bottle or two, but I know a lot of locals are passing on this bottle. There have been a lot of bottle releases, brewery dinners, and festivals that are causing beer dollars to be stretched.

There is nothing happening in November. Spend all of your fall budget money now.

This would include me. That and I've had Strawberry and didn't care for it. As far as trading a bottle, I'm done trading. Apricot is far more enjoyable fresh and ages fairly well from my experience. No telling how well the Strawberry is going to age as Pahn has already alluded to.

OP, Sang Royal, Sang Noir, Sang Rogue, Bourbonic Plague, and Vlad the Impaler are the "top end" Cascade sours. $21-$23 a 750ml is what those ran.
