True, but without limits. And that information is usually included.

Raspberry FBP will be 2 pp. I'm guessing Apricot FS will have a fairly high limit because it was a large batch. My guess is that most of the others will be somewhere around 1-3 pp depending on the beer.

Yeah they've stopped including limits on their posts for some reason.

Valid! I forgot that the fancier new posts actually haven't had limits. I am sure Pmoney is correct though on Raz FBP and Apricot FS though given the limits we had for EF.

Made the trek up today and as always, did not leave disappointed. Velvet was honestly even better than I expected; very low acidity and a good amount of sweetness to compliment the fruit. Jammy is drinking really well, but Purple Raz + Balaton Funky Blender Preserves was even jammier. Citra + Mosaic DHOT was a vintage treat and the 9mo single barrel Funky Blender was crazy different from what I expected but really good.

I’m planning to be in Denver October 23-26, from what I read on the Casey website it is possible to find there beer in local craft beer stores, curious if anyone can point me in toward the best option? Would love to bring a handful of bottles back to Chicago with me. Also open to setting up some trades (Side Project for Casey?) if anyone is interested send me a PM.

Also planning to stop at Crooked Stave, TRVE, and Black Project.

If you want to trade some SP for Casey in Chicago, feel free to shoot me a message.

As for stores, check out Mile High (at Belmar), Mr. B's, Small Batch, Grapevine Wine and Liquors, and Littles.

Were/are bottles of Leaner and Jammy available to be purchased by Extended Family members? Or can they only be purchased at brewery via tasting room tickets when available?

EF have had access to both in all previous releases and the new batch of Jammy should be available for us next month at a set limit and first come first served (not guaranteed).

Has the new round of EF member emails gone out? I don’t remember what the site said was the selection day and I’m curious when I should expect to be disappointed.

Once they start adding folks to the Facebook (if you do that!) member group, told it was easy enough to find proxies.

I am all signed up too. Looking forward to the club.

Out of curiosity - because I can only speak for what I buy when I visit Casey - how many bottles are you guys looking for a proxy to pick up?
New EF member as well and could possibly help but need to have a better understanding of the ask.

My record is 21 cases in my Mazda 3, obviously picked up for myself and another half dozen EF members. Living in Colorado Springs with 3 other EF guys, we all try to coordinated when we're going up because it can get to be a LOT very quickly.

As a new EF member, what do you buy per month on average? I will not be maxing out, but a few of each bottle and waiting the full 90 days could add up.

As someone in search of a proxy, happy to send shippers and labels or a shipper full of good local stuff as thank you and money for shipping supplies. I have been a proxy for others, and whatever makes it easiest.

I'm not a GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL kind of guy. My guess is I'd order at most 12-18 bottles in a given 90-day window.

As a guy who's been EF since the start, I will say my spending was insane for the first two years, but I have dialed back significantly since then. This last month I only ordered a single bottle for myself and I have completely skipped half the order windows this year. Back in the day I was maxing out everything, but I also traded and shared a lot more back then. Now I simply buy beer to drink myself.

I would put the idea of a lone proxy out of your head; very few guys I know consistently make the trip every 90 days and we all just end up helping each other out. For instance; I'll be there for the December EF party but probably won't go up again until spring/summer. It'll probably be easier to just ping this thread or the Facebook page when you are at 60 days and see if someone is going up soon to grab your bottles.

This may be a stupid question but I don't recall seeing anything about it in the membership rules, so I'l ask... Am I correct in assuming that once you're in, you get right of first refusal for renewal? Or does everyone go back into the same lottery pot each year?

Correct, you get first right of refusal. Members were given the chance to renew for 2019 right around GABF week.

Like Dan, I've dialed my spend back a bit. Back in the earlier days (and back when there were release day lines), my wife and I would both max out on everything. At this point I now know what items I really love and which ones I'm only "meh" about, so I can manage my spend better. Plus, even though these age with the best of 'em, I like most of his stuff fresher. FWIW, it feels like plain and dry hopped Oak Theory bottles don't show up that much. They're always worth maxing out if you like them.
Also worth noting, this month's line-up is VERY strong. It has easily been one of my faves.

Dumb questions from a new EF member:

    • Is there an automated addition/invite to the FB group at some point?
    • Is the FB group relatively active? Easy to arrange EF member pickups etc? Happy to grab boxes for Boulder folk when Im out there. Hoping the community is friendly when it comes to helping each other out with pickups etc.
    • Does the EF store open up at some point? So far not able to access other than "no items matching your selection" message. Wait until the new year?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

January will be your first ordering window since you're a new 2019 member and the same applies to the FB page (or did in years' past for new members) so you'll get access to both at the same time.

I can echo what other members have said, I ordered a lot more my first year to share or trade. Now just order what I want to drink/cellar. I proxy for one guy currently who had 29 bottles the last 90 day pick up. I had 25 bottles from that same period.

Question for current EF members: how often do primary bottle sales sell out? Curious if the monthly sales are pretty laid back or more "rapidly mash F5" like?

  40. pmoney

    pmoney Initiate (0) Apr 15, 2011 Illinois

This last month, not a single bottle sold out in the initial ordering window. Including Jammy at 2 pp. So you had ~5 days to get your order in.

Sometimes a bottle will sell out in a few hours, or the limit will drop from 3 to 2 to 1 within the first few hours. But it's not something where you need to have multiple screens opening clicking like a maniac.
