If you blinked, you may not have even noticed they were here. All we got was Jai Alai and Maduro. But anyway, word has it that CCB is pulling/has pulled out of GA.

Oh well. It didn't seem like we'd be getting any of their special beers anyway -- Zhukov, Cubano Espresso, Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, etc. I do recall Green's getting one case of their Cedar Aged IPA, but that was it. Think I gave that one away as an extra anyway. But not even so much as the Jose Marti or Tocobaga ever made it here.

    Did they give a reason?

Supply and demand. Too much demand, not enough supply. Floridians'll be some of the first to tell you that it's tough to get ahold of CCB beers -- and that's their local market.

They are expanding the brewery and putting a canning line. I was there Saturday and they said by February anything that is a 120z now will be in cans. They will still to the 250z bottles.

Judging from how absolutely packed the place was a 1pm i would say they may have a demand issue. LOL

Yeah, I was there at 11 AM last week, and there wasn't a free seat at the bar. They barely had any bottles for sale either -- one small cooler of 4-5 different brands. And half of those were about $20.

Are they still shipping stuff up to NY and PA? Always found that kinda strange. What about Alabama?

I had heard a few months ago that CCB had setup a deal with Walmart and was showing up on a bunch of their store shelves and that had pretty much pulled all the Jai Alai and Maduro that was slated for Georgia.

It's nice that they're taking care of the home state first, but I would have rather they didn't expand to Georgia only to later bail :slight_frown:

I would imagine it's terribly difficult for them to keep up with demand being the only well-known and widely recognized brewery in-state. I was surprised when I learned they were distributing to other states, as I remember on my trip down there last spring I had a hell of a time finding their beers on shelves. Although at the same time, I had no problem ordering Zhukov's online a month and a half after its release. Weird.

Far as I know, they're still distributing to New York and Philadelphia. Russian River does that too (Philly at least; not sure about New York). I guess because they're high profile beer markets.

I don't think Alabama got any CCB yet. By my recollection, GA was intended to be the first step in their plan to expand distrubution to the southeast.

They had the new Homefront IPA for $9 for 750, the new batch of 110k for $13 and they had Jai Aliai and Tocobago in 6pks in the tiny cooler. When they are slower you can ask for stuff and if they have it warm you can buy it also.

I asked the guy at the bar -- he said the cooler was all they had. He was a bit of a dick though. He was all smiles to the folks drinking at the bar, but seemed like he was almost annoyed that I came in just to buy beer to go and that he had to take 30 seconds to ring me up.

For a brewery that I love, I sure do get dicked by them a lot. Got an overfilled Huna that leaked, an infected Capricho Oscura that gushed all over my desk, dick bartender, etc.

In Alabama we're facing the same thing ...one of our beer reps has said they'll stop shipment for 6-8 months to help with there local demand .. hopefully they'll be able to expand and cover their bordering states ..

Being originally from Philly I go back quite often. A few years ago I was amazed by how much easier it was to find CCB stuff up there an in South Florida. That has changed drastically now. My cousin in PA said he can only find Jai Alai and Maduro and not nearly as much as he used to.

Tampa area market is definitely their main priority. Then the rest of Florida coming after that. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they pull out of Philly and NYC in the near future.

I ran into a couple super dick employees at Huna Day that put a bad taste in my mouth. But then I ran into a couple really nice employees that made up for it. But I'm sorry to hear that, you know what they say about bad apples.

Anyways, I'm guessing a lot of these distribution issues will be taken care of once the expansion is over. I do find it interesting that they will be canning ALL their regular 12 oz offerings. If that's true and no more bottle releases of 12oz'er that will be pretty bizarre IMO.

Dunno why they even came in to Georgia in the first place, they were obviously not even remotely close to being able to supply a whole new market. I think we got two, maybe three shipments of Jai Alai and Maduro, and a tiny bit of a few special releases in very limited quantities back in September/October. Oh well...maybe once they've got their expansion fully up and running we may see 'em again sometime down the road...

That cooler is all they ever have and it usually does have anywhere from 5-8 types of different bottles. One of the $20 bottles you are reffering to was possibly El Murcealago and it is worth every penny! I hope you picked some up!

When we were at Hunahpus Day they had a new calander on the wall of the brewhouse and they told us they were going to what I guess you would call a brew schedule. So now they brew by the schedule, which means if they run low on a certain beer it might not be brewed again until it comes up on the schedule. I believe Jose Marti is caught in that category because from what I heard here on BA it will not be brewed again this year. Once the cannery opens and they get caught up we will all have a good supply of CCB beer!

I'm pretty sure that's not complete information. At least for the starting of canning, they're only going to be canning Jai Alai, Maduro, Hotter than Helles, and Florida Cracker. From how they've made it sound, they'll be sold in both 12oz bottles and 12oz cans concurrently, but they might lean toward only canning on those regular offerings.

I'm quite sure White Oak Jai Alai, Jose Marti, Cubano Espresso, and the like will remain in 12oz glass bottles. That only makes sense when you consider the minimum order sizes on printing cans. Who knows, maybe the expansion will eventually give us those as "regulars" and in cans. I don't care how they do it, just keep the pipeline up in FL, dammit!
