Welcome to the new thread for 2022! Kicking things off with a 2016 High-Westified coffee stout from Lagunitas. Sent to me by @Roy_Hobbs in BIF #14. Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with brown head that quickly dissipates. Nose is chocolate, coffee, some roasted malts, and some rye. It's honestly quite muted compared to fresh. I think the coffee is less dominant? Taste is fantastic. The coffee is definitely still there, but is out-competed by great chocolate flavors. Rye, spice, roasted malts, dark fruits, and some charred wood stand out. Really smooth. Sometimes the older coffee stouts turn bad, but this has turned super smooth. The coffee is less dominant, but is still providing a great flavor. Overall, this is very enjoyable and has aged gracefully. Cheers all!
