proper attire for this event? how heated is the space where it's held?
I have heard the line to get in at 3 forms early and can take quite a while so you will at least want to be prepared for that, but it's comfortable inside.
Black tie and toque, tails optional.
Sorry, first part got cut off. This is in reference to what Black Gold '15 is. 2 CW sources, 1 claims 17 aged longer, another says 1414 remade and aged 3 years. Both sources have been posted. Also, I asked Anello at Great Taste and he said 1414, 3 years in the barrel.
Is it Saturday yet?
which is probably 15 + 10 months
1414- 12 months 15- 26 months BG 36 months
Bottle shareing in line? If I remember this was not allowed...
Even if it were allowed I don't understand why anyone would want to do this. Just drink even more CW18 or any of the other amazing beers on tap. CW brings it every year.
Looking forward to another night of drinking with all my great lakes forum bros tomorrow! possibly bringing my veritas 015 to the share but not sure yet. In any event I'll be the dude with the FBI hat on (which let me be clear, does not stand for female body inspector) so feel free to say hi, unless you feel compelled to make the aforementioned "joke".
Anyone want to carpool from Chicago?
How long is the line going to take if I arrive at 245?
I don't really think anyone can answer your question at the moment, since its only 1:35pm and without knowing your position in line ( or for that matter, anyone else's) and how things are operating at 3:00pm it would be kinda tough or next to impossible to predict
Lol camper drama. That was frigging hilarious
Admitted first timer for the Anniversary party, but is there a presumed shortage on beer today?! Dear god why is this line so huge at 2:45!?!!
Cassian has kicked
The promise is good, reminds me of the reserve series (watery thin) but a good tequila precense
Explain more, might be my dad lol
So glad I didn't go, slowly getting stories and pictures.
Where's the BA share? Lil Beaver got that hotness ready.
@Schmizer ?? You're the defacto coordinator.
Yeah, explain more. Those drunk guys have my CW18 lol.
Some bad vibes but overall wonderful now. People have cleared out and there is elbow room.
Thanks for all the lil beaver brewery compliments!
So how is 18 tasting?
I guess if no ones talking, its got to be good. #patientlyawaitsareportfromsomeBA
18 has been the highlight of my night. CW has the amazing ability to get better with each year.
18 reminds me of 16. Great beer.
Who is down for a bottle share??!!
Wow, what a party! !
Had a great time. Cassian sunset was amazing, the promise was almost great (great tequila presence but finish a bit harshly bitter). Enjoyed 18 immensely but it was my last beer of the night so My palate and sobriety were already wrecked. Space was tight at times but I never waited more than 5 minutes for beer, food, or bathrooms.
The camper episode was great.
What was the camper drama?
Did they do extra bottle sales after the allotment period like last year'
Does anyone know if there are leftover bottles that will be available at the brewery today? Thanks
When i went to get some bottles at 8pm i was told it was all gone, whether that was true or not.. idk.
This was the line for GA ticket holders to get leftover 18 bottles. Limit of two each. Took the picture just after 7.
So the camper drama...
Before the event when everyone was in line there was a camper parked in the turnabout where the buses go. It was there for a long time. Eventually a guy from CW comes out, asks the line if it's any of our camper... It wasn't.
So he jumped in and started to move it.. All of the sudden you see a shadow inside the thing and he gets back out. Looks reeeaaaal pissed.
Come to find out, guy parked his camper and went to take a nap or something.
Not going to lie that was the roughest experience I've ever had at a CW event. Cassian sunset and Peruvian morning tapped before we got in the door.(320).
If you tell every one it's limited everyone is going to pound that first. I heard first people in were ordering 4 at a time... Everyone was so jammed up because no organized line existed. I also wished for more barrel tables. We didn't have anywhere to set our stuff down
That being said, beer was amazing. Food was good. Cw is just getting stupid popular due to their incredible brews.
Got in line a little before 1:30 so we got right in at 3. Got our allotment and then went and got some drafts before they kicked. Was a great event with lots of bottle shares all over, inside and out.
What they just posted on Facebook:
A huge thank you to everyone who celebrated our 18th birthday yesterday, those that made it to the brewery and those that didn't! We wouldn't have made it this far without each and every one of you. From the bottom of our hearts, sincere gratitude goes out to our amazing, crazy hard working employees, volunteers and fans that are making this adventure possible every day! Here's to another 18 more!
oh, the answer is yes by the way, we are indeed totally sold out of 18!
I'm genuinely curious about this approach. Why would you go and get your allotment first and then go to get beers on draft? If you were guaranteed 8 bottles as long as you picked them up by 7pm, what was the reason to get them right away? I assumed everyone that lined up early was really only doing so to get the beers on tap and then get their allotment later... Were people worried that CW miscalculated and people wouldn't actually be able to get all 8 bottles they were promised?
I got there right around 3, was in by 3:45 and then out of there about 5 minutes later because I wasn't able to stick around for the party.
