I'll go with you on the Barleywine, but not the stout. I love all of the Brewers Reserve series, but for me it's Barleywine > Scotch Ale/Cassian Sunset > Stout > Cherry Stout

Ya im similar in my favorites.

BBS, BBSA, BBBW are my top 3. The rest are meh.. That said, I can't wait to try the new BA Quad. I love regular quads so I've been looking forward to this for a long time.

As a side note, im still getting 2015 BBSA from the guy in town here and its still delicious. Suppose im gonna have to buy a pack of both new and old tomorrow and do a side by side taste test to see how fresh vs old stacks up. Oh the horror.

Apologize if this has been answered recently, but anyone know how to date a bottle of Black Gold? I believe I just obtained a 2015 but do not see any date or other marking indicating a year. Thanks in advance!

For you Michigan BAs, heard CW coming to Michigan and that BB Scotch Ale on the list. I look forward to this as I drink a gross amount of Backwoods.

Still have two 2015 BBSA bottles from last year. I may be doing the same comparison this weekend.

Yes indeed CW BA beers are becoming, if not already the most solid lineup of BA beers. Also readily available at bars recently which makes it even better. I have a vertical of the BBS that I can't wait to sample and my cellar is starting to get more occupied with CW. Only the Cherry Stout was a miss for me, was very excited to try but it didn't hit the mark for me. But geez everything else I have had was amazing. BBS, BBBW, Cassian (wow), RBCP. Hoping one day to try Black Gold and AI, but that probably won't happen. Must find some BBSA.

Woodmans Oak Creek, 2 4 packs limit. At least 3 cases when I left at 8:30 last night. It's worth checking Discount too.

Typically the Brewers Reserve series 4pks show up 3-6 weeks after the WI distribution, depending on the location. I would be very (pleasantly) surprised to see BA Scotch show up in IL before August.

Madison must get a lot of CW BB Stout/BW/Scotch Ale, compared to other areas. Every year I see people discuss limits and scarcity, but I always see stacks and stacks of it sitting around for weeks.

I wouldn't say stacks and stacks of it sit around here in Chicago, but they're usually pretty easy to find (at least for me based on the past 2 years of looking for them). I think the Scotch Ale is the easiest to get, while the Stout is the hardest.

I have not really been specifically looking for it (I already got my 4-pack), but I did see multiple cases of BB SA at Jenny St. yesterday. Maybe 4 or 5 cases outside of the cooler? I didn't look in the cooler; there's usually more in there.

Not sure if they had a limit.

Downstate IL the easiest to get is by far the barleywine. It sat around for months by me and actually didn't disappear until Cassian came out. I know a store near me where I could've bought over a case of it in early June. I'm hoping BB SA stays around for some time too, because it's my personal fav in the brewer's reserve line. I think it's close to a dead ringer for Founder's BB.

Several cases still out at the Fitchburg HyVee. Had a random bottle of Cassian Sunset out that I was able to get, too.

I bought a bunch of both last year and drink them regularly. I think CW is much better. Now Gravedigger Billy by Revolution is a different story but with it being $18/22oz vs $14/4 pack that's not really an apples to apples comparison.

BA Scotch 4pk = $11.19 at Janesville Woodmans today - CANNOT beat that value! Love Gravedigger Billy too but it's hard to justify getting more than one 22oz bottle a year when it's $15-$18.

    That's awesome. Think I paid $14.99 or $15.99 per 4-pack at Hyvee.

The arm load of BB SA that I procured today begs to differ! I was so surprised to see it today. Usually Brewer's Reserve hits me about 1 month after distro from the brewery. Drinking one right now...It's just so good. I paid $14.99 per 4 pack. And I'm totally good with that.

Any sightings of the BBSA in Illinois? I have been patiently waiting for a few weeks. One of my favorites! No distro in the Naperville so I will have to travel to the northern burbs or Chicago.

Plainfield Binnys should get it. They have a different distributor for Central Waters than the Naperville Binnys.

Looks like Milwaukee's getting their 2nd shipment of the BBSA. Ray's had it with no limit so I bought a case since it's my wife's favorite beer.

Doing a mini vertical of 2015 and 2016 scotch ale right now. The SO and I agree that 2016 is lacking in barrel aroma and flavor. I get more dark fruit from 2016 and more of the scotch ale spice from the 2015. 2016 is still a delicious beer, but 2015 is superior.

I actually agree. Drinking one right now. Thought maybe my pallette was off but I also get less barrel character.

I felt that the 2015 scotch was significantly better than the previous vintages, unfortunately I'd have to agree that this one doesn't live up to last years, although it's probably in line with 2013-14.

Saw 2-1/2 cases sitting on the floor of this years Scotch Ale today at Superior in Manty.
