I drive downstate a lot for work, and I've often thought of detouring through Savoy to stop at Triptych, but never have. After grabbing some of their cans in Bloomington recently, I really need to do it. Dank meme was phenomenal.

You definitely should, and anyone else passing through. They keep their tap list up to date on their website. The Meme series has really been solid. They keep expanding on it too. Cool tap room, great bunch of guys there (if not getting swamped by a bunch of people getting flights and asking a million questions :astonished:), and making some incredible beers. Little Secret recently won gold at the GABF for session IPA. They are very quietly cranking out some fantastic stuff.

AJ's is actually a lot like BBS, with a little thicker mouthful. Let me know next time your down. I'll save you a can of AJ's because it probably won't last too much longer.

    Wait... BBA Space Ghost?
Years ago, I took a chance on Space Ghost, since I was not into pepper beers. It remains my favorite of that style. Had a 2-ish year one a few months back and I remarked at how it would fare in barrels. Hopefully I will get to try this one :33

I had a 2013 like 2 months ago. Going strong, but I will probably like it more next year (have 1 or 2 left of that year)

Is this year's Y2k the two-year cellared version (bomber, gray label) or did they release both an aged version and a fresh version? We've only got the 2 year bombers, here in Spoontown.

I've only seen the 2 yr that you have. To me it tastes exactly as the regular BA Barleywine without some of the sweetness and a bit harsher. Still good.

I got BBS at Binnys in BG today, I assume other Binnys would also have it.

Inside knowledge or based on last year? Several years it was available to buy at the party (which is why I originally started going!).

It's always been available end of January, hence my question....but yeah, @mseitz24 you got some insight?

Do they delay the distribution of BBS in Chicago out and out of state due to the popularity of GI BCBS? It seems like it has been available in WI for quite sometime based on this thread.

While I wouldn't be surprised if they want to avoid competing with BCBS, I also know that all of the BB stuff from CW is delayed by at least 4 weeks or so usually before coming to Chicago.

There is quite a bit of it around. Shouldn't be an issue finding at any Binny's.

Yeah as has been noted in the thread, the Chicago area distributor for CW is not the best. A good rule of thumb seems to be Downstate IL distro is about a couple weeks after WI and then Chicagoland is about a couple weeks after Downstate IL. And this seems to be the case for all the CW releases.

Since he hasn't responded, I'd guess the @mseitz24 was just guessing. Let's hope it's available at the party as it often has been!

Anyone know if Chicago will get Y2K? Otherwise I will have to fire up the trade machine I guess, I am very sad that they are discontinuing it. It feels like there are fewer and fewer barleywines on the market every year.

Maybe if they just made it cloudy and released it in special cans brewery-only then everyone would be rushing to make them!

I have to assume Chicago will get it, especially if you get all of the other Central Waters releases. Its pretty widely available in Minnesota right now, so maybe the distributor hasn't sent it out yet?

Barleywine is a style I love and Y2K has always been one of my favorites in the style. That being said, taking up cellaring space for 1-2 years is a big ask for a brewery as popular as CW. I'll bet they could come up with a BW recipe that requires little or no cellaring and is just as good. Fingers crossed.

I doubt it. I can buy a case of CW BBS for about what a Bourbon County single bottle set (1 Reg, BW, Coffee, Prop) costs. Hard to see this as much of a competitor.

For my money, CW BBS is the best value Bourbon Barrel Stout available. Used to be Drago, but it's $18-23 everywhere now. :slight_frown:. CW BBS was $12.99 at Woodmans!

I was pretty sure I got Drago last year for $14.99 at Woodmans but it's $19.99 everywhere I've seen this year. I like it better than the CW BBS, but BBS is a better value now for sure - and it's good.

So I'll be in the Dells this Saturday (kill me). Any possibility of picking up BBS anywhere? Any recommendations on where to go after my kids drown next to the 55 yr old dude with long black hair and jeans in the wave pool?

If it's Glenn Danzig, ask him for an autograph.

There are literally cases of BBS stacked like precarious leaning towers in Champaign still. They get taller every time I go in. I actually asked the beer guy today why it had grown since I last came in almost a week ago. He said the distributor keeps bringing him more. Seriously, get me a Danzig autograph.

If you're taking 90 north thru Rockford, take the Riverside exit and head to Woodman's about 2 miles off the interstate. They have 20+ cases left.

Just wanted to thank everyone for your replies. You rock.

Also, it won't be Glenn Danzig -- the guy I'm taking about is taller than 4'2". I'll get the autograph regardless (assuming he's literate).

So this will be my first time at a CW release  Does someone usually create a spreadsheet for hotel shares after the event? I'm staying at the Comfort Suites if that makes a difference. Planning on bringing some solid stouts, but am interested in where/when/who is sharing.

    Thanks
