Tastes like cheerwine. So if you like cheerwine you should like it. It is sweet though. Even as a person that loves Cheerwine, it’s worth trying once but wouldn’t be able to finish a 4 pack.

This is my review as well - they absolutely accomplished what they set out to do, but I can't imagine anyone drinking it in any real volume. Reminds me Not Your Father's Root Beer - I had two and thought "This will definitely be a fridge staple for me." By 5 or 6 I never wanted it again.

This also sort of speaks to the 4 pk vs 6 pk packaging format this frequently debated. I would try this beer if I found it in singles. I'm hesitant with a 4 pk, thinking I could get stuck with 3 of a beer that's a drain pour. I definitely wouldn't buy a 6 pack unless I knew for sure there were a few people I wouldn't mind giving them away to.

Im not a big soda drinker but there are two places I’ll drink cheer wine- Cookout and my local bbq restaurant. I would keep some stocked for when I have the smoker rollin but soda is so damn expensive lately it’s not worth it to me.

    No thanks!

"...made with natural and artificial cherry flavors."

Craft breweries making non-craft crap! :unamused: I guess it's okay to do so these days. Even Prairie Artisan Ales uses fake/artificial stuff.

"Proudly presented by two family-owned companies in the Carolinas."

Not sure what there's to be proud of here! Especially for NoDa.

A can was brought to our last tasting a couple of weeks ago. Hard to give an unbiased opinion with all the good beers that were already sampled. My foggy recollection is that it was very soda like, and kind of like the Smith's cough drops of yesteryear. Maybe a can on a fresh palate would work out better? Or better yet in a marinade/sauce as David @dbrauneis mentioned.
    Cheers!

    Hi Tom,

Somehow missed you comment until now. You described exactly what I thought it would taste like. Sounds like they may want to repackage it as a marinade or BBQ sauce!
    Cheers!

I'm sipping on one now. Don't think I'll be able to finish it. Tastes like what I'd imagine a diet Cheerwine to taste like. Or carbonated cough syrup.

I'm a big fan of NoDa brewery and a bigger fan of Cheerwine, but this just doesn't work.

Lol! That sounds perfectly awful - carbonated cough syrup. I know someone somewhere will probably love this beer but it really sounded like a bad idea from the word go.

I'm sure they're selling quite a bit of it, but can't imagine it will actually be year round. Vast majority will try it then get tired of it pretty quickly.

No, I don't think it's intended as a year-round beer either. Probably wanted to give it a shot and if it sold well, make it a seasonal.

The brewery keeps saying it's year round. I think sales will determine that (or not)

I’m having a Noda Cheerwil Ale in Charlotte. I’m kind of liking this. I probably wouldn’t want a 4 pack, but it’s a nice 1 timer.

That looks nothing like I expected. I figured it to be a 1 or 2 time drink for the adventurous. Thanks foe posting.

So I finally got around to trying this one and they really hit the nail on the head with the aroma and flavor of that distinctive natural + artificial cherry from Cheerwine. It was easy drinking and refreshing but not a beer I would get over and over again (though American Pale Wheat ales are not one of my favorite styles). Not overly sweet and would definitely pair well with classic southern food (BBQ, soul food, etc.).

Nice take. I thought it might would come off too sweet but seems like they avoided that trap. I'm not a big fan of American Pale Wheat either.

Drove down to the OBX this weekend and we grabbed a can of these to try. My wife is the Cheerwine aficionado, and fwiw she also agreed they really got the flavor down.
I thought it was.... totally fine. haha.
