yeah I read that. I guess that's a more fair way to do it.

how was the Madagascar done? and why clusterfuck? ive been to a few of their releases, and yeah the beer goes pretty quick but everything seemed more or less orderly.

Because people showed up at 3:00 p.m. for a 6:00 p.m. release. Where do these people work and how can I apply?

I didn't skip the gym yesterday, and as a result Madagascar kicked right before I could order.

They were planning to hand out tickets at 530, but I think people started camping out hours early (you know how it is here), and since BP hasn't really run into this issue before, they were kind of stumped on how to handle it (if you hand out tickets early, people who show up at 530 expecting to have a chance at tickets get pissed, if you hand them out at 530, you have an unnecessary line for an hour or two). I've mentioned before that they're trying to make BP a "neighborhood place" (and doing a good job, imo), and having a bunch of whale hunters lined up hours ahead of time does NOT create that feeling.
I like making the same joke myself, but I can sometimes cut out of work at opportune times to grab beer, so I can't really blame others.

Now, would I stand in line for Madagascar for more than 10 minutes? ***k no. But at this point every adjunct stout in the Chicagoland area is turning into a mess.

Thanks! I'm hoarding all the Madagascar possible, though. Just kidding everyone...I didn't get a bottle or try it on tap. I realized I forgot about the tapping, then looked at the clock at it was 6:25 and decided it probably went quickly and I'd rather spend some time with the family instead. I think I've got one more shot at a bottle, it all depends on if I want to deal with the whole experience.

I'll create my own secret e-mail/BM society of limited/hard-to-find beer releases. :grimacing:

Binnys _____ said they just got 6 cases of high westifed in. They said as long As you call in they'll hold some for you, but only after your second call. Better hurry now.

    Now how's that for advocating

All the best beer nerds should have all Binny's on their speed dial by now, so doing this really shouldn't be that difficult.

Speed dial is so last year. I have an automated call robot that calls them every day and runs down the BA top 250 list to see if they've gotten anything in. :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess I'm in that weird sector of BA that will let people know a specific location of a desired beer usually after I obtain such desired beer; sometimes I let people know where harder to find beers are even if I'm not planning on going myself.

Just trying to stop people from the obligatory "which binnys" follow up post after someone says "just came from binnys and got ____". I understand the sense of loyalty to certain smaller shops to not blow the spot up but certainly not for a large chain store such as binnys. Just my two cents. Happy for the people who get good tips on here on where to go for beers they're looking for. Cheers!

Sorry, you're not a real "Advocate" if you inform others about the location(s) of beers they may want to buy. Being an "Advocate" means you want to hoard as much "rare" beer as possible for yourself so you can trade it for other "rare" beers from other "Advocates." Being a true "advocate" means screwing everyone else over so you can obtain as many "whalez" as you possibly can to post in the WAYDN threads on this site to make other "Advocates" jealous.

It can be tough because there are people that feel like you're blowing up their Binny's if you say they got in xxx. Meaning that if someone is a regular of Logan Square Binny's, and I post during the day that they have Madagascar (FYI...I'M NOT SAYING THEY HAVE IT NOW!), and it runs out before a "regular" of that store has time to get over there at their usual time after work, they feel slighted.

I don't know that there really is a good way to go about it...sometimes I'll say Beer Temple or somewhere else or a specific Binny's has something and sometimes I won't...it depends on a variety of factors from how many other people have chimed in on the release to how I feel that day. I don't get too worked up when people don't say what particular store or location they got it at, though...I usually just take that as my queue to get off my butt and start searching/calling.

I pretty much always say where I got whatever it was that I'm talking about. If I didn't want to share that information then I just wouldn't post at all. I'm always happy to share tips with any of the regulars on these threads.

i hoard it all then try to trade it for Handjees, not really though I dont chase anymore. I am going to stop at my local binnys and try to get some westified and devils invention though, that would make for a pretty legit weekend for me =^)

I know it's been mentioned that some Madagascar cases were broken in transit, but I found out more specifics from LZ binnys beer manager.

Apparently a total of 23 cases were designated for Chicagoland binnys. 12 were broken in transit. I'm not sure how binnys allocated the remaining 11 cases among all of the locations.

Considering there are more than 11 binnys in the Chicagoland area some stores probably didn't even get a case. I know binnys grand got 1 case.

Stopped by the binnys in Skokie and they didn't get any high west in yet, when I was in after work.

Does anyone else think of that scene in Breaking Bad when they lay on the cash, in terms of the Madagascar bottles not actually breaking on transit.

Are you suggesting that there are barrels buried somewhere filled with Madagascar? If so, I'll see if I can rent a backhoe and start searching.
