Last I heard, they were still using the mobile canner ... I'll look into and see if I can get an update, but I heard from two different people (one was the beer buyer from Binny's who works with Noon Whistle, and another was a guy in the industry) that they were using a mobile canner.

    Edit:

I take it back, I was wrong - it sounds like they do have their own canning system now. Its a Wild Goose system.

    Edit 2:

Now Im at a loss as to why their cans fell off so much ... I just assumed it was the mobile canning line ... but maybe its just another example of the style not being all that great for caning unless you really know what you are doing?

Picked up a 4-pack of Dun Dun Dun at Bitter Pops. It's delicious. A little bitterness at the end that perfectly integrates with the rest, and look and feel are on point. The galaxy hops come through nicely as a change of pace for HB (outside of Galaxy Bowl). I think this is my new #2 from them.

I agree. By far the best HB I've had. Not amazing but very enjoyable (I thought GB was overrated).

Dun Dun Dun was amazing. Personally preferred it to snoochies tonight (by a large margin).

Dang Dun Dun Dun looks and sounds good. I was at Binny's on Grand yesterday and couldn't find it, left with a four pack of Craniac so I'll give that a go as well as 18th Street Nickel and also 18th Street Dime. I cracked a can of Nickel yesterday and was pretty depressed by it. Something seemed wrong with my can, the beer seemed oxidized, poured very brown. Didn't look or taste right. Tried to look at other peoples pics of it on untappd and they seem different in color but hard to tell with lighting sometimes. Also tasted very syrupy. I hope the rest of my fourpack isn't like this? Anyone else had it? Is it pouring different for you?

when 18th Street Nailed came out, the first 2 cans i drank were spot on, but about a week later, that's exactly what happened to me. same brown color, very flat and syrupy. very disappointing. clearly some issues with how it's being canned

Bummer. Hope the other cans and the cans of Dime will be better. The cost of their four packs is way too high for this kind of stuff.

I know it’s mot really Chicagoland, but anyone try Orenthal, the new transient DIPA?

Craniac is decent. Seems Hop Butcher is back on the horse. There were a handful of four packs on the shelf at Binnys on Grand.

I'm a big fan of Dime and Nickel, haven't had any oxidation issues so far.

I cracked a can of Dime last night. The appearance was beautiful, great mouthfeel and overall pretty decent, but I got a butterscotch flavor at the end. This has happened to me with other 18th Street IPA's. I'm beginning to wonder if it's just me or have others experienced this as well?

I'm curious about this one, because I like hallertau blanc a lot. No way I'll enjoy it as much as Dun Dun (can't beat citra and galaxy, really), but Dun is so good that I want to give it a shot.

Big week for this thread. Sooo many beers

    Of the ones I tried

Noon Whistle Gummysicle was good not great. I could see it needing a few weeks in the can to mellow out. But really solid

Hubbards Cave V7 - delicious if you like a dry NE style beer. Huge aroma. Way way better as it warmed up. I love el dorado.

Hop Butcher Craniac is a bit dry, and tad bitter but Nelson fans will really enjoy it. Not HBs best offering but I'd happily buy it another 4 pack

Hop Butcher Dun Dun Dun is fantastic now and will probably be fantastic in a few weeks. Huge aroma.

Surprise of the week goes to Marz ChiPA. Best batch they've made since the 1st test batch. Lightened the malt bill and the juicyness was there. Not quite as explosive as stuff from FR or Corridor but it's a lovely beer.

Forbidden Root, whatever that moth beer that encorporated oak barrels... Amazing. This is a beer I could bring to people standing in line at Tree House and impress them with. Such a slick mouthfeel. Beautiful oak character initially and a beer that just glides through you mouth. It has everything that makes this style exciting. This and their grape beer have really blown me away over the last month or so.

Boys and girls, what a time to be alive!

Also Middle Brow Sells Out is a sneaky good option if you want a change of pace. 4 different yeast strains. Great hop character, and a really unique flavor. You get Brett Sacc character, a peppery finish, and a lovely initially burst of hops. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but it's a cool beer. Especially for someone that doesn't mind a hint of Belgian yeast character

Sells Out grew on me each day I had one, but as previously mentioned with Warpigs, the four 12oz can format is wonky....though Middle Brow offers a fair price for the 4 pack.

I have to echo what others have said here, Dime by 18th Street is incredible. I get tons of fruit in the aroma and taste. Glad that my Dime cans don't seem to have any of the oxidation issues that my Nickel cans had.

Seems like even the breweries that are reluctant (and stubborn) about brewing the latest 'trend' of NE/DDH/hazy IPAs are seeing the rewards of doing so. I equate their stubbornness to 'get-off-my-lawn' mentality. Not saying those breweries need to switch their entire line-up to NE/DDH/hazy IPAs but having a quality offering or two just may add some more patrons and a few more $ to the bottom line.

... I'm looking at you 3Floyds... and Half-Acre. Please brew an NE/DDH/hazy IPA. I know it would be a good one if you put effort into it. But then again, what I know. I'm just a guy that spends a bunch of money on beers I enjoy drinking.
