Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

Yeah they were dripping wet from still being shipped cold when I grabbed at 4 pack at The Beer Cellar (old location no less). It said Limit 1 so I assumed that meant I should be checking it out. Had that and RAM's Juicy in my fridge at the same time. Good old days haha.

The tough part of it being in a 6 pack is if it still hasn't rebounded. Additionally, I would've thought they'd want to get this into more hands...

 

Having said that, they've increased capacity havent they?

 

They are just messing with us. It’s going to be 4 packs.

 

I think it was a joke and they popped six cans in a holder just for the picture.

That was the first time I had ever had something from HopButcher. I went to the original Cellar for a Mikerphone pickup. I want to say Techno Gorilla and one of his IPA's. Dude hyped they just got in this super fresh HopButcher.

GB1 was one of the best beer experience I've ever had...

 

Snoochie Boochies and TORO! have hit Binny's Lakeview, per my better half. I checked Grand earlier today on my lunch hour and they didn't have it yet.

 

I second this and must've been there the same day. It was Techno Gorilla and Thursty, which made Galaxy Bowl taste that much better. I posted about this awhile back because it was one of my more memorable experiences with beer, specifically an NEIPA.

 

Should we all post about our glorious Galaxy Bowl b1 experience? I really do vividly remember that I had already drank one of my cans at home and then stumbled upon more at Bitter Pops, so picked up two more 4 packs.

More importantly, has anyone cracked one of the new batch? I know it hit at least one suburb store today.

 

I only ended up getting one can of GB b1... I did a side by side of ram Juicy vs Julius and then a galaxy bowl vs galaxy DH ft point in one night. It was a great night

 

Good call. I think I even drove all the way to Capone’s when they got their drop. At that point, I think HB was getting to just 1-2 places per day with their distro

 

I got it after a trip to Boston and Vermont. I had about 12 cases of heady, focal, and trillium. Im in the minority, but i wasn't at all blown away by GB, especially compared to those beers.

 

OK, OK, only good experiences.

 

This is exactly my experience, I had picked up Thursty somewhere else but didn't get Techno Gorillia, so I went to Beer Cellar hoping they still had that. They had Galaxy Bowl, I popped one as soon as I got home and came on here and touted it's excellence. It was as great as that Thursty was awful.

 

um, so I had a Transient Juice is Loose last night...only second time I've had it, first was the Chicago batch and I really liked it (I think brewed at Aquanaut). This one though, was not good. I almost think something is wrong with it (or had a recipe change?) because it was markedly different than my other experience. This tasted like it had rye, or heavy pilsner malt or something - a very strange kind of spiciness/bite that did not work well at all.

What the heck?

Transient's entry to Chicago has been a huge disappointment, if we are talking ipas. I was a huge Transient fanboy before. They were the best in the area but it seems like everyone has caught up and their inconsistency is now a serious issue.
