Part of the appeal and mystique of Heady is that it's so unique- there's really nothing quite like it. Everything about the beer comes together so well.

That being said, the only beer I've had Heady deja vu with was Omnipollo Fatamorgana. I thought the aroma was really similar. The taste was close, but not quite there. Really awesome DIPA.

From the beers I've had, I would have to suggest Another One from Maine Beer Co. While it isn't labeled as a double IPA and nor does it come in tall boy cans, it does clock in at 7%. I thought when I poured it from the bottle that it looked exactly like Heady Topper.

Love me some Gandhi Bot! Pours more like an orange juice though and a lot more citrus. But Heady and Gandhi are both one of my favorites

I love reading all the comments. Saying Hoptimum tastes like Heady is like saying a hamburger tastes like pizza.

I just had Heady Topper yesterday and not only is it the best DIPA I have had, it's the best beer I have had. Although they are very are both very diferent tasting beers, the only beers I have had that are On a similar level is Pilny the Elder and Lahunitas Fusion 18. With some work, you DNA find Pilny, and I have no idea if Lugunitas will ever make Fusion 18 from the Fusion series again.

This. First thing out of my mouth after the first sip of HD&R was "tastes like conan".

Fresh Surly Abrasive is the closest tasting DIPA I've had to Heady. I haven't had Gandhi Bot yet.

This beer is getting mixed reviews, but it is the closest to HT that I can compare. Now, mind you, I have yet to try Abner or surly, or some others mentioned here. But I get my hands on all the 2IPA's I can, and, to me, this is very, very close.

Pliny is super close. Mongo is pretty close too. Similar hop profiles for sure.

The closest I have had to Heady would be Double Sunshine which I enjoy a touch better than Heady, and Pliny The Elder which I feel is very comparable in flavor profile, however, the appearance of the two is quite different.

Just tried some fresh Second Fiddle from Fiddlehead and it's right up there with Heady.

I'm surprised at all the Abrasive comparisons in this thread. I find no similarities between the two besides the fact that they both come in a can. I'm not knocking abrasive at all. I love it almost as much as I love heady.:grinning: Just two very different DIPAs imo. That being said, the only beer that kind of reminded me of heady was Focal Banger (surprise surprise). Two completely different hop profiles so what makes them similar? It's that damn conan yeast!

Two years of this thread? Most IPAs are far more malty, including everything from Stone or Ballast Point. Ignoring the other rare VT beers, or rare MA beers like treehouse I'd say Hopulence from Wormtown and actually, MO from Maine, though an APA. MO smells the most like HT to me and has a similar light malt profile.

Jai Alai was too sweet and sticky when I had it. Maybe a little old?
