Just came across this on Facebook:

    https://www.facebook.com/events/445287458886342/

There haven't been any kinds of updates since word late last year that Clown Shoes was headed this way at some point this year. I guess that's our update.

I'm excited about Clown Shoes, but I have to say no matter where I go that has it while I'm traveling, the bottles are always really, really old. Okay for Vampire Slayer and Blaecorn Unidragon under the right conditions, not so okay for like every other beer they make, which are all hop-forward. Fair warning to all when it hits shelves to check the bottle date (lower left of label). If we do start out with fresh stock, let's all do our part in Colorado and buy a bunch so I can always get it fresh. kthxbye

so many breweries I'd rather have come to CO. I traded for quite a bit of their stuff when I first started traded, haven't done that since...

Here's info about the Hops and Pie event for those that can't get on Facebook, but can get on BA at work (like me)

April 6th, Hops & Pie welcomes Clown Shoes Beer from Ipswich, Massachusetts and a big selection of their beers that just got released to Colorado. This will be one of your first chances to sample 6 different Clown Shoes beers in one place. Hop lovers take note! Selections include: Miracle IPA (5.5% ABV), Supa Hero IPA (8% ABV), Hoppy Feet Black IPA (7% ABV), Vampire Slayer Smoked Imperial Stout (11% ABV), Clementine White Ale (6% ABV), and Tramp Stamp Belgian IPA (7% ABV).

Nice, like their Hoppy Feet and a few others, want to try the Supa Hero! Very reasonably priced beer.

Or if you have local computer admin rights, change your network adapter's DNS. (OpenDNS or Google)

Setup a Citrix farm at home and use a reverse proxy server as a gateway to your domain. I totally made that up.

I've tried to like Clown Shoes stuff but just can't do it. Me thinks they will not do well out here, too many great beers here already. If you are gonna distribute here you gotta be better than mediocre.

I agree. Everything I've had of theirs has been overrated. I don't see myself picking up any of their stuff. As it's already been said, there's too many other better beers here.

I have admin right, but our filter somehow trumps DNS settings. Plan B was the VPN and it works pretty well, though I turn it on and off as needed to reduce the load on my home network.

And now, back on topic. I like beer.

Same goes for Magic Hat, Northern Lights (No-Li), Goose Island (still waiting for BCBS/vintage sours linup), etc.

I am happy to have Goose Island and their Sofie on my local shelves. Still haven't gotten around to Matilda, Jaques Pere, or Pepe Nero, but have high hopes for them. Especially Matilda.

I do agree with you about Magic Hat and No-Li though. Never tried Clown Shoes stuff to comment on, but seeing that they are from Ipswich, MA....I just wish it was Ipswich Brewery instead, as Ipswich Oatmeal Stout would be a staple in my fridge if that made it into our fine state.

Well we've had those technically before Goose Island expanded their distribution here, I was mostly referring to their flagship beers they brought in to compete. I do like Sofie & Matilda, great summer City Park Jazz beers.

We've seen several larger brewers come and go over the years. I'm curious if we'll start to see more exiting our market if they don't see immediate success. I assume Goose Island is probably entrenched since they're brewing up in Ft. Collins and I think enough people know Magic Hat #9 since it's so popular on the east coast. I'm not so sure about some of the others that seem have languished, though.
I'd trade 95% of the Eastern/Midwestern stuff we do get for Bells, 3F, Founder's, and Brooklyn anyway.

    Gotcha.

Thought I had remembered seeing them around prior, but never actually tried them until the recent expansion. I still haven't tried any of the flagships.

I welcome more breweries into our market, who doesn't like more variety? I'd also prefer to drink beer from Clown Shoes then some of the shitty beer being brewed in Denver. Their beer is pretty solid.

Goose Island affect is in their future. I ordered several of their 6pks when they first started distributing here and they're just wasting my precious shelf space.. I could be wrong but only time will tell. I'll try carrying any beer once in the store I currently work at but usually it can't rival more widely known breweries sold in Colorado.

being from MA i tried quite a few of their beers and found them to be lackluster overall. I was especially disappointed in Chocolate Sombrero, it had such potential, but was rather bland.
However, every one of their imperial stouts have been great: Angry Beast in particular, but Vampire Slayer and Blaecorn are real good too. Unfortunately i missed Flight of the Pimp and Porcine Unidragon..
As long as the imperial stout goodies make the trip West, they can keep their regular line

I'd toss in a few of the locals and a first round draft pick for 2 of the 4 you mentioned to be determined later. Problem is though, we're probably the homerest beer drinking state around.

To some degree, although our hype machine never really caught on. I think we actually go out and drink our local beers instead of planning a campaign to get most of them into the top 100. We definitely have some duds out here, but we have a ton of under the radar gems that I enjoy being able to actually go out any buy/order whenever I want.

This was under my radar but after checking out the reviews a Tramp Stamp sounds like the kind of beer I've been homebrewing a lot lately...would def give this a try. Is this among the beers hitting the shelves or only at the Hops & Pies thing Saturday?

Saw four packs for $10, no thanks. The mission IPA and DIPA both sucked, I think they sent old beer.

Or maybe your palette is just so fine tuned to aged hops and oak barrels that anything "fresh" sucks.

First impressions are everything and they send old beer? How retarded can you be?

I tried the IPA last year when I was in AZ for Spring Training and liked it, I would definitely pick some up if/when I came across it. That said, if the stuff's old I am not going to bother. The beer wasn't that special to risk wasting all that money.

I had the Mission Hefeweizen on tap at the Royal Hilltop last night. It was okay, but certainly nothing special...especially with the Dry Dock handle right next to it. I can't speak for their hoppier items, though.

since we diverted to a Mission conversation, I grabbed a 4-pack of the Dark Seas. It was good, but not outstanding. For the same price I'll just keep grabbing Yeti

Hello to all of our friends in Colorado. This is Matt from Clown Shoes and I just wanted to pop in and say how excited we are to be selling beer in Colorado! We've been incredibly lucky to have a plethora of amazing beer from Colorado available to us in our stores here in Massachusetts and it's great to return the favor a little and be able to share our beers with you guys. I actually lived in Colorado when I was younger (pre-beer drinking days) and cannot wait to go back to and absorb as much of your beer culture as possible. We really appreciate all the feedback we get from our customers (or prospective customers) and always want to keep our lines of communication open, so please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly with any questions or concerns. Cheers!
