Anyone seen these popping up in the Boston area?
Redstone tweeted that they have some in.
Another Clown Shoes beer, another name I can't keep track of.
How is it different from "simply" Angry Beast?
Pretty much identical label, identical description. Did Clown Shoes get lost in the myriad of their own beers? LOL
Oh, I see now. With Angry Beast they aged Blaecorn and blended with Vampire. With Very Angry they blended the two and then aged the blend.
Isn't that was Porcine Unidragon is??
I thought Porcine was simply barrel aged Blaecorn, no blending with anything else
Here's the differences between our barrel aged beers:
Very Angry Beast is a blend of 100% bourbon barrel aged Vampire Slayer and 100% bourbon barrel aged Blaecorn Unidragon.
Angry Beast was a blend of 100% bourbon barrel aged Blaecorn Unidragon and non-barrel aged Vampire Slayer
Porcine Unidragon is a version of Blaecorn Unidragon made with beechwood smoked malt instead of peat smoked malt (and in a higher proportion) then aged in bourbon barrels
Hopefully that clears up any confusion!
Thanks everyone for filling in all the gaps here, but any one else selling these other then redstone lol
I haven't been in recently myself, but the beer guy at Blanchard's in West Roxbury told me they were about the top Clown Shoes store in Boston. He gets everything of theirs, so I'm sure he'll have this. Worth a call.
Thanks for the explanation.
Just to clarify: according to the label, they were blended first and then barrel aged. Which one is correct?
Did you use Knob Creek barrels?
Blaecorn U. malts are smoked with peat? Not sure I noticed the peatinnes. But it's been a while, maybe I just forgot. Will have to retry, I guess.
Oh, yeah, Craft Beer Cellar just tweeted about Very Angry Beast.
Berman's Lexington just got in a case about 2 hours ago
For Very Angry Beast, the beers were barrel aged separately (but in the same kind of barrels) then blended together before bottling. This batch was Four Roses and Heaven Hill barrels.
The Blaecorn does have peat smoked malt but it's in very low proportion so the peat flavor doesn't dominate the rest of the beer.
So where is the Barrel Aged Vampire? I GOT to try that.
Baystate Food and Spirits in Brookline got some. 2 bottles/person limit please!
Ya it's pretty much crystal clear now
We're doing a rum barrel aged version of to be released around Halloween
Anyone know if this will make it up to Maine, or just MA distro?
Our distributor in Maine ordered 5 cases for the whole state, so you might need to do some searching for it. We haven't sent the order yet but will do so in the next week. They are called "Central Distributors", if you can't find it, contact them and they will be able to tell you where it went. Cheers
Quality Liquors in Salem has some
I just picked up a bottle in Michigan. Clown shoes just started distributing here a couple of weeks ago.
Oh man...I wish you guys distributed to Ohio!
In stock at Muckeys Liquors in Lakeville Ma
I wasn't a huge fan of Angry Beast (it was good but not great), but Very Angry Beast is absolutely fantastic. Definitely scoop it up while you can I'm sure when the reviews start rolling in it's gonna be hard to come by.
Redbones in Somerville has it n draft
I was actually able to find some very angry beast in a Central Market in Dallas, very surprised, and this beer is fantastic. I'm not usually a fan of stouts but this is great.
How many bottles of very angry beast were produced?
There were 11208 bottles made.
If anyone is still looking, spotted it in Liquor World earlier tonight.
Still at Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont
