How come the LCBO doesn't care about Toronto?!? Why does all the Founders end up on Ottawa?!?!?!?
Toronto gonna Toronto. If you fail to realize the difference between Toronto only and random rollout (which, FYI, was announced as Toronto on the 13th and everywhere else on the 14th), then you've got bigger things to worry about.
Sold out instantly. My guess is it was put out for a restaurant
Founders website confirms above rumour regarding Summerhill rollout on December 13 and elsewhere on the 14th. Sounds as if the stock in Ottawa was sold by accident.
Looks like the Ottawa release was a mistake, but it did land on the shelves and regular people were able to grab it! And pay breakfast stout prices for it according to some.
That was another piss take.
There were 48 CBS in two stores in Ottawa today, they were supposed to be pulled (as happened with the 2500 at Summerhill) but the instructions didn't get there in time.
Both stores sold out almost immediately. The store I spoke with said it was within minutes of opening.
Good luck to everyone when this does officially go on sale...it's gonna be a madhouse.
Friend of mine called the LCBO yesterday and they said there are over 10,000 bottles of CBS rolling out in Ontario. IIRC that's more than what we got for KBS, so I imagine we should be ok after the initial insanity dies down.... I hope
seeing it pop up in toronto-newmarket-london now.
so i need some advice. my girlfriend lives in hamilton (i am in new york), and she was advised that they would be getting CBS in the next week or two. should she be showing up right when they open? Is there that much demand?
also, is the 14th confirmed for the general release? where did that info come from?
Cases are showing up at stores and selling out immediately. This is gonna be a sh!tshow.
She should wait until everyone in Ontario has bought their fill, and then, if there are any leftover she can proceed to pick them up for you.
The LCBO is a strange beast. As they say........Bonne Chance!
I couldn't even get any near me, looks like there will be a ton more in Ontario than upstate!
Well, Ontario is closer to Founders, we share a border with Michigan.......so we are geographically entitled!!! lol.
very true. i'm starting to think that the individual lcbo's have no idea about what's going on lol. i called the one we usually go to and they said they didn't have it, no one in the area did, and weren't expecting to get it.
girlfriend calls someone(headquarters?) who tells her it's sold out in hamilton.
then she calls the lcbo near her, which tells her that they just haven't received their shipment yet, but are expecting to get it still.
As I said...........a very strange beast indeed!!!
Its true. lcbo is strange indeed. She would probably have more of a chance if she went into Toronto. Best thing is to just ask them to hold you bottles if you're desperate to get any. I was able to hold 12 at Sheridan mall . But considering in NY its $25(if lucky)- $35 for a 750 bomber.... if you find it, Having a gf in Canada is a blessing for this release.
I think I raised the bar on CBS too high.
she was able to score a couple bottles (i only asked her to get 2, no idea how many they had)at a place in hamilton which held them for her!
just for fun i decided to refresh the page on the lcbo site to see which places had it, but they've outright deleted the page for CBS lol.
i have heard people say it's slightly disappointing compared to the past release(subjective, i know). but "slightly disappointing" for cbs is probably still a top-30 beer...
Well that was dumb.
Summerhill LCBO opened at 9:30 am, and immediately denied about 20 people from buying CBS when the doors opened, claiming to have a rep coming in at 11am to host the first sales.
After showing them the founders site claiming a 9:30 launch (which has since been changed) the manager did the right thing. Instead of letting 20 die hards bitch for an hour and a half, they caved and sold us the bottles. They took all the bottles off the floor, so I imagine they are holding them till 11 am now.
And just to clarify, $8.50 a bottle. No limits. Some people left with full cases.
Ya. You have to give the LCBO some credit here though. Despite the since changed error on the Founders website it took all of about 5 minutes for a manager to step up and tell those that were assembled they would be taken care of.
As the previous poster stated, no limits, but I did overhear the woman who looked to be in charge say that if sales are very brisk they might start imposing limits as the day progressed
So, to add to the previous flubs with this release, Founders screwed up the time the beer would go on sale and the LCBO night shift put the product on the floor despite the fact it was supposed to remain in the back room until 11. What are we up to? 6,7 mistakes with this release?
Absolutely. They seemed to be already bickering amongst themselves when we walked in. Hard launch for everyone there apparently. But they did good for our sake.
Unsure of whether or not this is the right place for this (new to BA), but I'm interested in some CBS, if anyone would like to trade-- I live in Nova Scotia!
Happy CBS Day everybody!
We are getting Yeti!
I keep missing these 3 Fonteinen online only releases.... so disappointing. Unless they just put them online already sold out.......
Armand & Gaston had 10 cases for sale .....minimum order was a case (6 bottles).
I am fairly certain that there was more than that sold.
That is what Keep6 told me. Have the screen grab if you need it.
It's coming back anyways.....
Interesting. Seems like all 10 cases went to my group, which seems very unlikely but I suppose possible. When you say it is coming back do you mean the rest of this batch because it was pulled down or a new batch all together?
New batch new agent.
Some more 3 Fonteinen will be making its way into Ontario in the spring.
Kriekenlambic (a still lambic make from older lambic)
Oude Geuze 375 and 750 mL
Very limited quantities of those are coming in and will be at bars across Toronto.
Armand and Gaston 750 mL will be coming into the LCBO as well (store listing)
Toronto you say? Smh #LCBTO
woah woah woah...settle down, son...
I assure you that some of the fun stuff made it to Kitchener and Ottawa.
I can't force non-Toronto bars to place orders. It's up to the bar and restaurant clientele to ask for imports to be carried and for those bars and restaurants to place orders.
A little off topic (but Ontario-centric), but I noticed Deschutes Black Butte is available (in kegs) through the Beer Store. Could that mean it could come to the LCBO in bottles? http://www.thebeerstore.ca/beers/black-butte-porter
Deschutes' Fresh Squeezed IPA now at LCBO.
I believe the one available on LCBO shelves is the "not so freshly squeezed" version ;-)
(from Bartowel reports the "best before date" is Aug 15th...)
Anyone know what the bottle dates are on the new HF releases?
Based on what the bars in Toronto have (assuming it's the same batch) :
Arthur - 08/18/17
Anna - 09/27/17
I wonder when they will put it back online.
We may never know for sure. July 24th, 2018. The day Hill Farmstead killed the LCBO!
